Blue Bombers add talent through 2025 draft

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected nine players in the 2025 CFL Draft held Tuesday night.
The Club began the night with a trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, acquiring National running back Matthew Peterson (Alberta), the second pick in the first round of the Global Draft, and the 39th pick overall (5th round) in the CFL Draft. In exchange, Hamilton received National defensive lineman Kyle Samson, the eighth pick in the first round of the Global Draft, and the 36th overall selection in the CFL Draft (4th round).
Man, woman dead after police respond to domestic call at Winnipeg home
Two people are dead after police responded to a domestic call at a Winnipeg home.
Police say they were called Monday to the house west of the city's downtown, where they found a man and woman in medical distress.
Officers administered emergency medical care until paramedics arrived and took them to the hospital.
They later died of their injuries.
Police say there are no outstanding suspects.
They also say they don't believe there's any danger to the public.

Poilievre's loss raises a host of questions about his ability to continue with the Conservative party leadership, and the role he will play as the House of Commons reconvenes.
In his concession speech on election night, Poilievre pledged that Conservatives will "do our constitutional duty of holding government to account and proposing better alternatives."

Edwin Klassen, 89, of Winkler passed away Sunday, April 27th at Boundary Trails Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Edna, 1 daughter and 2 sons. He was predeceased by 1 sister and 2 brothers.
A memorial service for Edwin Klassen will be held Friday, 11am at Grace Mennonite Church, Winkler with ash interment.

Cody Gakpo took off his jersey to celebrate and reveal a white tank top with the words "I belong to Jesus."
The Dutch player was immediately given a yellow card by one of the referees because FIFA rules state that players are not allowed to have any political, religious or personal slogans on them.
'We need more God': Former American Idol contestant uses stage to share the gospel
Former American Idol contestant Fantasia used the stage to bring glory to God.
The talented singer put on a special performance singing "Have Your Way."
"That was unbelievable," said Ryan Seacrest following her performance. "I can feel your emotion right now. What are you feeling?"
"The world is going through a lot right now, and we need more God," Fantasia responded. "So I allowed him to use me on the biggest stage ever."
Fantasia is preparing to release a new gospel album soon.
