Mark Carney set to become prime minister and name his cabinet this morning
Mark Carney will be sworn in as prime minister this morning at Rideau Hall, where he will also reveal his new cabinet.
Carney won the Liberal leadership race last weekend with an overwhelming 86 per cent of the votes from Liberal members.
He officially takes over from Justin Trudeau as prime minister in today's ceremony.
His first cabinet is expected to be smaller than Trudeau's 37-member team, and some ministers are set to lose their positions.
Verse of the day: March 14
2 Peter 1:5-8
"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

MaenDecks outdoor living spaces are skillfully crafted and built to last
There’s a saying they have at MaenDecks: “Once a customer, always a friend.” More an internal expression than a corporate slogan, it speaks to the company’s approach, finished product and reputation for service.
“We spend quite a bit of time at a job,” says Joel Maendel. “We’re often there for months at a time, so most of our customers – if not all – actually become our friends. It sounds cliche, but it’s true.”
A song of new hope
Psalm 13:5–6
As David's song—preserved for us as Psalm 13—reaches its climax, David's posture has changed once again.
David on His Feet
But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me. (vv. 5–6)

Group representing physicians in Manitoba renew calls to end sick notes
A health-care group that represents physicians in Manitoba is renewing calls to eliminate sick notes for short-term absences from work as the process puts a burden on a health-care system already burdened by a shortage of family doctors.
Doctors Manitoba says physicians write roughly 600,000 sick notes per year and by eliminating them it can free up more than 300,000 visits for patients.
The organization released survey data suggesting well over 90 per cent of Manitobans, including the public and employers, support eliminating or limiting sick notes.

Snow, freezing rain, and lightning? Colorado low could bring wild weekend weather
Environment and Climate Change Canada is keeping a close eye on an approaching Colorado low that could bring unpredictable weather to southern Manitoba this weekend.
While not as severe as spring storm systems can be, such as the April 2022 storm, this system is expected to produce a mix of precipitation, including snow, freezing rain, and possibly even lightning in some areas.
What to expect
Christy Climenhaga, a scientist with Environment Canada, says the system is expected to arrive late Friday and continue into Saturday.
