Manitoba government urges tourists not to visit as 21,000 people flee wildfires
Manitoba is urging tourists to reconsider visiting as it works to find shelter for a flood of wildfire evacuees now reaching 21,000.
“This is one of the largest evacuations in our province’s history,” Lisa Naylor, the Manitoba minister in charge of emergency management, said Monday.
“The government anticipates there may be a need for more hotel rooms as the wildfire season continues. For that reason, we are urging Manitobans and Canadians to reconsider non-essential travel and event plans within Manitoba."
Hands raised in worship as Breanna Nix takes the Grand Ole Opry stage
It was a dream come true for American Idol runner-up Breanna Nix.
The Christian country singer performed at the Grand Ole Opry on June 5, 2025. This was also the first big performance for NIx since the show ended back in May.
"What an absolute dream come true," said Nix in a post on Facebook. "Thank you, Jesus, for this incredible opportunity—for Your faithfulness and grace in my life. I wouldn’t be here without it. All Glory to God."
Brandon Lake turns CMA Fest into a powerful moment of worship
Christian artist and songwriter Brandon Lake turned a recent performance at the Country Music Association's 2025 Fest into a time of worship.
The popular Grammy award-winning singer performed in front of a massive crowd on Sunday, taking the country music festival to church.
He performed "Gratitude," with the crowd rising to their feet with their arms stretched up, singing along and worshipping to the powerful song.

A private funeral service and burial for Gordon Kornelson will be held.

Fires near Sherridon and Nopiming now cover areas larger than Winnipeg
The Manitoba Wildfire Service says the province was reduced to a low-to-moderate fire danger level over the weekend thanks to the rain. However, the northeast area remains under a high-to-extreme fire danger.
The fire on the east side of Manitoba, stretching from Bird River to Bissett, has grown to 203,720 hectares, five times the size of Winnipeg, and remains out of control.
Meanwhile, the fire that is threatening Flin Flon and other northern communities is now 307,781 hectares, approximately seven times the size of Winnipeg.
Carrie Underwood joins Ben Fuller on Opry stage after emotional new album drop
Christian artist Ben Fuller has had a full week indeed after releasing a brand new album, Walk Through Fire, on June 6.
The album is his second studio release and has two featured artists, including Molly Kate Kestner, and well-known singer and American Idol judge, Carrie Underwood. The album has 13 tracks on it.
The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, is celebrating its centennial year with ongoing performances that recently included Fuller. Surprising the crowd, Fuller brought up Underwood to perform their latest single, "If It Was Up to Me."
