Steven Curtis Chapman to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry

Steven Curtis Chapman is still in awe after being invited to become the next member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Chapman, who has 50 No.1 hits, made his Opry debut 42 years ago when he was just 19 years old. At that time, he was a performer at Opryland Theme Park singing the songs of Opry greats including George Jones, Ricky Skaggs and more. 

Now the most-awarded artist in Christian music history, Chapman was surprised when Ricky Skaggs invited Chapman to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry following a performance Sunday night. 

New Canadian artist Gabriel Giammaria releases single about God's will

"It's so great to bring God into music and then share that with others," says Hamilton-based singer Gabriel Giammaria. 

Some Christian bands that influenced Giammaria in his writing are CAIN, Anne Wilson, and Zach Williams. His first single is titled 'Give to You.'

"This song started from a personal prayer, asking God what His will is for my life. I'm sure many young people can relate with this, asking 'What is my purpose? What is God's plan for me?'"

Fundraiser set up to help Autumn Nelon after her family dies in tragic plane crash

A fundraiser has been set up to support Autumn Nelon Streetman after her mother, stepfather and sister died in a plane crash Friday afternoon. 

The Nelon family was on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when the incident happened.

The crash also claimed the lives of Nathan Kistler, their assistant, Melodi Hodges, pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa. 

Author Max Lucado stepping in as interim pastor after Robert Morris' son steps down

After much change in leadership within the past few months, Gateway Church has a new pastor stepping up on Sunday mornings once again. 

After the founder and former pastor of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, Robert Morris, confessed to sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl back in the 80s, he quit his job on June 18, 2024. Filling in the gap, Morris' son, James, took the pastoral position shortly after. 

23-year-old hero rescues family of 4 from house fire

A family of four is grateful to a young adult from Connecticut who sprang into action when their house was on fire. 

Eliezer Reyes, a 23-year-old, was driving around with his girlfriend when he noticed a house in the area had smoke billowing out of it. Instead of continuing on to his destination, Reyes drove straight for the house. 

Three members of gospel music family die in tragic plane crash

Three members of the Grammy-nominated gospel band, The Nelons, died in a tragic plane crash Friday afternoon in Wyoming.

The family group were on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when tragedy struck.

The crash claimed the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges. The pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa were also killed in the crash. 

Drag queen ‘Last Supper’ during Olympics opening ceremony sparks outrage from Christians

A dance troupe performing at the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics drew the ire of Christians around the world after they appeared to mock Jesus and the Last Supper.

The ceremony, held on Friday along the Seine River in the French capital, featured the traditional parade of nations. It was the first time in Olympic history the ceremony was held outside a stadium.

Joe Bonsall, the tenor vocalist of the country and gospel vocal quartet the Oak Ridge Boys, passed away a few weeks ago on July 9, 2024. He led the vocals for the group for 51 years and passed away at the age of 76 from ALS.
