Rising from the Flames: Matt Lafait's transformative journey and new single

New Brunswick Christian artist, Matt LaFait has just released his latest single called “Out of the Flames "with One8Tea.  

Matt's journey of faith began in his childhood church. "I grew up in church, I believed," he recalls. As a teen, he led worship and formed the band "Rekoncyle," which achieved notable success. Rekoncyle released two albums and a worship project, performing in churches and festivals across the Maritime provinces and even at Soulfest in New Hampshire, USA. They earned accolades like the MGMA "Band of the Year" and an ECMA nomination. 

New music this week

Several artists are kicking off summer with new music. 

Five-time Grammy-award winner, Brandon Lake is celebrating his birthday with the release of Tear Off The Roof (Live From The Holy City).

The album features collaborations with Jon Foreman from Switchfoot, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and Cody Carnes. The record includes the songs, 'Praise You Anywhere,' 'Graves Into Gardens,' and 'Gratitude' among others.

Despite receiving threats, one pastor in a Russian-controlled state is sharing how he consistently sees God move.

'It's finally here': CAIN writes fun message filled children's book

Popular Christian band CAIN has set out on a new adventure. 

The brother-sister trio announced Wednesday that they wrote a children's book called I'm So Blessed.

"We’ve been working on this for SO LONG, and it’s finally here!!" said the band in an Instagram post. "We can’t wait for y’all to see the cool 70’s vibey fruit, and all the sneaky little CAIN Easter eggs throughout."

'As a nation, we're stronger working together': Pastor Marty McLean on National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a special day for Pastor Marty McLean of Encounter Life Ministries. 

The downtown church has been around for almost six years and McLean says, "We've been doing outreaches for our Indigenous peoples in the City of Winnipeg."

McLean states that the primary focus is on the 77,000-plus Indigenous people that call Winnipeg home, to show them the love of God and help in any way. "Not only spiritually but in other ways that we can help them transition to have a better life."

Original message of unity still relevant for the Church on National Indigenous People's Day: Ministry leader

A local ministry leader is encouraging Christians to take time to understand and build relationships with Indigenous communities and individuals. 

Roger Armbruster from Niverville, Man., is the Director of Canada Awakening Ministries. He's worked closely with Indigenous people since the 1980s throughout his ministry. 

"I love visiting in those communities and not only sharing but learning from them the things they have to teach us as well," says Armbruster.

'Pray for those who are displaced and hungry': Honouring World Refugee Day

Today is World Refugee Day, a day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. 

"There are 120 million people in our world today who are displaced from their homes," said Stefan Epp-Koop, senior manager of humanitarian programming at Canadian Foodgrains Bank. "They are displaced because of conflict, because of natural disasters, because of economic crises, and have been forced to leave their homes." 

According to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, there are more refugees and displaced people in the world in 2024 than there have ever been before. 

Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham among winners at 2024 BMI Christian Awards

Many Christian songwriters and music publishers were celebrated on Wednesday night at the 2024 BMI Christian Awards. 

The 25 most-performed Christian songs included, 'Fear is Not My Future,' 'God is in This Story,' 'Heart of God,' 'Hymn of Heaven,' 'Love Me Like I Am,' 'Rest on Us,' 'Who I Am' among others. 

Brandon Lake's 'Gratitude' was named the 2024 Song of the Year. The track features raw honesty written by Dante Bowe and Ben Hastings. It received nominations from the 2023 GMA Dove Awards for Song of the Year and Worship Recorded Song of the Year. 

Missionary and filmmaker Alex Reimer set to premier new documentary in Steinbach

On Sunday, a local filmmaker will be hosting the Canadian Premier for his new documentary called Things Unseen

Alex Reimer grew up here in Manitoba's Southeast but has spent the last seven years working as a missionary in Germany and Northern Ireland. He and his wife recently decided to move to Steinbach, but not before filming something special.
