Wilf Markkula

Wilf Markkula 85 years old passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 with family by his side. Wilfred “Wilf” Markkula was born on September 17, 1938 in Birsay SK, to Victor & Elsie Markkula. He grew up on a farm in Macrorie District and farmed untill 1964. Wilf was also a grain buyer, a hotel owner, and a salesman with CKSW Radio for 20 years.

James Howard Heard

James Howard Heard, age 97 passed away peacefully in Cabri, Saskatchewan, on June 17, 2024. Howard was born in Cabri, Saskatchewan, on May 31, 1927, to William and Sarah Heard. He grew up on a farm in the Abbey district where he attended Roe school. As a student, Howard was in charge of lighting a fire in the wood stove at school in the morning so that it would be warm when classes started. As the oldest son he drove himself and his siblings to school with the horse and buggy.

Gloria Armstrong

Gloria Armstrong, age 92, of Swift Current, SK passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024 with her family by her side at Clover House in Swift Current. Gloria Grace Armstong was born November 29, 1931 on the homestead near Hanley, SK to Norm and Elsie Beaumont, where she grew up on the farm with her three siblings. Gloria moved to Saskatoon to attend post-secondary studies. Gloria married Gord Armstrong, the love of her life in 1952.  Once her children were in school, she worked in the school system as a secretary and library technician.
