Canada Post has issued a red delivery service alert for Swift Current.
According to a press release from Canada Post, this service alert means that they are "suspending delivery for the day and not sending our delivery agents out or recalling them."
This alert has been put in place due to inclement weather and freezing rain.
Local thespians on the hunt for gramophone as festival approaches
Swift Current will be full of young thespians at the end of this month as the Swift Current Comprehensive High School hosts the upcoming regional drama festival.
The school's drama program will be entering two productions into the festival and residents will have the chance of a sneak peek as Riley Sharp history teacher and technical director of the school's drama program explains.
Blast of winter leads to road closures and travel advisories
As we endure the latest blast of winter, travel is not recommended on the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy #1) from Maple Creek through Swift Current and on to Moose Jaw.
Highways 47, 18, 35, 6 around the Weyburn, Carlyle and Estevan area are currently closed.
A snowfall warning remains in effect for Swift Current and the surrounding area with snow expected to end this afternoon.
Safety tips for the month of unpredictable weather
As we begin the month of March, the Swift Current Fire Department are asking residents to take note of a few safety issues at this time of the year.
Fire Chief Ryan Hunter reminds locals to avoid the area surrounding Swift Current Creek as it's that time in the season when temperatures freeze at night and thaw during the day and this in turn makes the ice weak.
Saskatchewan artist's nature focused pieces on display
Art lovers are in for a treat with the new exhibit at the Art Gallery of Swift Current entitled The Archival Shore by Saskatchewan artist Gladys Wozny Siemens.
With deep love and focus on the natural world, Wozny Siemens provides some details on her work.
"Plaster casts that I have taken of animal tracks and textures and shapes that I find on the ground near my home. And I make a plaster cast, a part of nature you might say."
She says she incorporates this into her sculptures and has an interesting story of how she began with this form of artwork.
Sasktel joins Crime Stoppers to inform customers regarding fraud
Sasktel and various chapters of Crime Stoppers in the province are teaming up to help customers be aware and alert when it comes to scams.
The pair are sharing tips, so customers are aware of the various online forms of fraud.
Greg Jacobs, External Communications Manager for Sasktel provides one such useful tip.

Curtain rises on upcoming ticket blitz
After a three-year hiatus, the curtain will rise once again this Spring for Swift Current Little Theatre's production of Jonas and Barry in the home by Norm Foster.
The three-person show focuses on the story of two gentlemen in a retirement home and their relationship along with their relationship with Rosie the daughter of Barry.
Director of the production Kurtis Bakanec shares what's in store for the audience.

Swift Current Rural RCMP is currently on the lookout for a vehicle last seen in the Pennant area around 8 am today.
The vehicle is described as a maroon/red Dodge Ram 3/4 tonne diesel pick-up truck, possibly 2010, with back tinted windows.
The truck may be occupied by a male and female and its current location is unknown.
Ring those phones for the 47th time to help those in need
Saskatchewan residents will be getting ready to ring those phones as Telemiracle 47 takes place this weekend February 25th-26th in Saskatoon at Prairieland Park and airs on CTV.
Committee Chair for this year's Telemiracle, Scott Lamb provides details on how the funds raised help those in need.
"The money raised goes right back here in the province to the people that need it. We assist with things like travel to medical appointments. Sometimes we get sick and need to go to special places to get special treatment and that's what the Telemiracle Foundation is here to do."
