One sent to hospital following motorcycle/vehicle crash in Winkler
A motorcycle driver was sent to hospital following a two-vehicle crash Monday in Winkler.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of 15th Street and Mountain Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. According to Winkler police, a southbound car on 15th St. made a left turn onto Mountain when a motorcycle heading north on 15th collided with the rear passenger side.
The motorcycle driver was sent to hospital with what were thought to be minor injuries.
Police say no charges are being considered.

Leonard Friesen, 83, of Grunthal passed away Monday, September 2nd at Menno Home. He is survived by his wife Erna, 1 daughter, 1 son, 1 sister, and their families. He was predeceased by his first 1st wife Betty (Liese) Friesen.
The funeral service for Leonard Friesen will be held Thursday, September 5th at 11am at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with burial at Grunthal Cemetery.
Viewing will be at the chapel prior to the service.
Donations may be made to Grunthal Menno Home Foundation.

Sports Update - Tuesday, September 3rd
The Cartwright Twins are Border Baseball League champions for the second time in three years. Andrew Lochead drilled a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to lift the Twins past the Altona Bisons 7-4 in the deciding 5th game of the final Monday at Waldie Field. The Bisons plated the tying run in the top of the seventh to force extra innings. 2024 marked the fifth time in the past seven years that a game five was necessary.
Goldeyes fall in regular season finale
The Lincoln Saltdogs (38-62) held off a late rally and defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 6-3 Monday afternoon at Blue Cross Park in the regular season finale for both clubs.

Lincoln opened the scoring on a two-run home run to left field by centre fielder Kyle Battle with two out in the top of the third inning. Two batters later, third baseman Dakota Conners singled home right fielder Zane Zurbrugg to make it 3-0.
Three males facing weapons charges, CO2 pistols confiscated
Three 18 year old males are facing weapons related charges after a restaurant employee in Winkler reported having a firearm pointed at them early Monday morning.
Winkler police were dispatched to the Norquay Drive business around 2:45 a.m., where the victim indicated a customer drew a handgun, appeared to load it and pointed it at the employee before leaving. A vehicle description was provided, and both Winkler and Morden police officers patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
PVHS breaks decade-long intake record with animal 200
Animal shelters never have a shortage of work to do, and the Pembina Valley Humane Society (PVHS) based in Morden is no exception.
Jennifer Young, who has been the shelter manager at PVHS for approximately two years now, says the organization has reached a bittersweet milestone — its 200th intake of the year. Not only does the number break a ten-year record, but it does so with four months still left in 2024.
