Canada invests in cereals research and market support

The Chief Executive Officer for Cereals Canada says a significant funding announcement will enable them to continue supporting markets around the world.

Dean Dias says they have received $7.3 million in funding from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. He notes this substantial investment includes $6.6 million over three years from the AgriMarketing Program and $674,000 over five years from the AgriScience Program. 

Ottawa orders TikTok's Canadian arm to be dissolved

The federal government is ordering the dissolution of TikTok's Canadian business after a national security review of the Chinese company behind the social media platform, but stopped short of ordering people to stay off the app.

Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne announced the government's "wind up" demand Wednesday, saying it is meant to address "risks" related to ByteDance Ltd.’s establishment of TikTok Technology Canada Inc.

Winkler man, 39, charged with multiple sex offences after two youths come forward

A 39-year-old man from Winkler has been charged with a raft of sex offences after two youths came forward to police last week.
    
Initially, one of the youths, a girl, reported he had repeatedly sexually assaulted her between 2020 and 2023. 
    
At that point, he was taken into custody by Winkler Police with help from the RCMP.
    
Then, a second youth, a boy, came forward and disclosed that he too had been sexually assaulted by the man over this same time frame. 
    
Police say the man was known to both of the victims. 
    

Morden Police issue fresh fraud warning as scams continue to roll in

Another case of fraud has Morden Police Service once again emphasizing caution to online shoppers. 
    
Late last month, someone purchased an item on VarageSale and sent an e-transfer to the seller, but when they went to alleged seller's home to pick it up, the person living there said they had the wrong address.
    
The buyer tried to contact the seller, but the account had already been deleted from the app.
    
Police stress, to never send an e-transfer until you have the item you're buying in your hand and can confirm the seller is legitimate

Wally Loeppky, 80, of Winnipeg formerly of Altona, passed away Tuesday, October 29th at Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Diedrich and Ann Loeppky and 1 brother. 
The funeral service for Wally Loeppky will be held Friday, November 8th at 10am at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street. 
Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Nine individuals will be inducted, and they are Clark Andres of Roblin, Lindsey & Matthew Dahl of Winnipeg, Ryan Scott of Irishtown, New Brunswick, Scott Kelman of Winnipeg, Jim White of Neepawa, Fred Matsubara of Winnipeg, Jack Scott of Winnipeg and Golden West sportscaster Clayton Dreger.

Justin Trudeau congratulates Donald Trump on his U.S. presidential win

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is extending congratulations to Donald Trump on his re-election as president of the United States. 

Trump staged a major political comeback, securing the necessary 270 electoral college votes to win the presidency in the early hours of Wednesday morning. 

This concludes a turbulent campaign for Trump, which included being convicted of 34 felonies in a hush-money case and two assassination attempts. 

Tomorrow's broadcasters test skills during CFAM Radio 950 tour

Tuesday morning, CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Co-Hosts Chris Sumner and Zack Driedger had the opportunity to host around 45 home school students and their parents from the area on a tour of the radio station.

It’s one of the biggest groups they've ever taken through, and the students ranged from Kindergarten to Grade 10. The group was super attentive and engaged in the exploration of how we go about "Connecting Communities".
