Morden's stories unfold: A community gathering celebrates local history through murals and benches
A presentation about Morden's History through murals and benches brought several people out to the Morden Activity Centre on Wednesday afternoon to learn about the community.
Presenter and avid history buff Cheryl Link said this type of sharing took place last year with a few people attending but this year, more chairs had to be brought into the room for people to take part.
Winnipeg firefighter Lindsey Ingram wins four gold medals at the Firefighter Challenge World Championships
The Firefighter Challenge League annually conducts up to 8 classic events in the Firefighter Challenge Championship Series that concludes with the World Championship event each October.
This year’s championship was hosted in Nashville, Tennessee October 21st-25th. The FCL pits elite firefighters from around the world against each other – and the clock. The athletes enter the skills-based challenge course known as the "Arena of the Brave" to complete "Five Essential Functions" – High-Rise Pack Carry, Hose Heist, Forcible entry, Hose Advance and Victim Rescue.

Sports Update - Saturday, November 2nd
The Carman Beavers and Red River Wild were winners in the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League Friday night. Marcus Sekundiak potted the winner on the power play 2:04 into overtime to lift the Beavers past the Ile des Chenes Northstars 4-3. Noah Skorpad, Dane Halstead and Everett Bestland scored in regulation for Carman. Tyler Swerdyliak had a pair of goals for the Northstars. Brent Wold had the other Ile des Chenes goal. Geordie Keane scored the only goal of the shootout to lift the Wild past the Winkler Royals 4-3. T.J. Matuszewski scored twice in regulation for Red River.

B.C. port employers issue lockout notice in labour dispute with foremen union
Ports in British Columbia could potentially be paralyzed again starting next week, as the latest labour dispute has triggered a provincewide lockout notice from employers against a union of more than 700 foremen.
The BC Maritime Employers Association says in a statement that it will "defensively" lock out members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 514 starting Monday at 8 a.m., shutting down all cargo operations provincewide but leaving cruise ships and operations for grain vessels unaffected.

Today is the final day for Carman and R.M. of Dufferin residents to outline their safety needs and concerns, and their well-being, through a community-driven survey.
"We want our community to feel safe," explained Public Education Safety Coordinator, Monica Halbesma. "If we can get this data, then we can see where some of the issues are that people feel where, as a community, we could improve."
