Antonion Tony Sr. Cianflone, 74, of Altona formerly of Letellier, passed away Monday, October 7th at Altona Memorial Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Lise, 2 sons, and their families.
The celebration of life for Antonion Tony Sr. Cianflone will be held Saturday, 11am at Letellier Community Centre with ash interment at Letellier Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boundary Trails Health Centre Dialysis Unit.

Abe Martens, 78, of Steinbach passed away Tuesday, October 8th at his residence. He is survived by his wife Mary, 2 daughters, 2 sons, and their families.
A memorial service for Abe Martens will be held Tuesday, October 15th at 11am at Southland Church with ash interment at a later date.

Sports Update - Wednesday, October 9th
The Provincial High School Cross Country Championships take place today in Clearwater hosted by Prairie Mountain High School. 1,100 runners are expected to compete in the junior varsity and varsity divisions. Miller girls & Morden boys won the Zone 4 varsity championship banners last week at Stephenfield Park. Sanford girls & Morden boys captured the junior varsity team titles.

"Grow Morris" development plan public hearing coming up
The next step in the "Grow Morris" Development Plan is coming up November 7th, with council holding a public hearing to receive feedback on the proposed plan. Earlier in Summer residents were given the opportunity to comment on it.
"We're required to redo this approximately every ten years, and we know as a community we didn't quite have alignment between land use, some of the strategic ideas in the community, and where we wanted to go long term," explained Crick. "We've attempted to pull that all together in this development plan, which again has been titled 'Grow Morris'."
Garden Valley enrollment steady with last school year
Enrollment at Garden Valley School Division (GVSD) is steady this Fall compared to last school year at 4,219. In fact, Superintendent Dan Ward says that's exactly the same number of students submitted to the province in September 2023, something he hasn't had happen previously.
"I don't think I've ever had the exact same count," he said. "I think I was within ten (students) one year, but those numbers, of course, change month to month, but our end of September count was the exact same as last year."
