Police investigating Steinbach murder, woman arrested

Steinbach RCMP have arrested a 34 year old female after responding to a call on Whitby Crescent in the city Friday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., RCMP received a report of a deceased male in the residence.

Officers responded immediately and found the 69-year-old man, and determined his death to be a homicide.

The female was in the residence when officers arrived, and was arrested for the homicide and remains in police custody. 

The deceased and the female were known to each other.

Winkler Youth arrested and fined over $3600 for highway joyride near Morris

According to the Manitoba RCMP social media page, a Winkler youth was arrested and issued 6 tickets under the Highway Traffic Act following a high-speed joyride on Highway 23 near Morris. 

On July 15, shortly after 9 pm, an RCMP officer in the eastbound lane of Highway 23 noticed a westbound car speeding in the westbound lane, going 185 KM/HR. As the officer drove onto the shoulder to turn around, the vehicle sped past the police vehicle, clocked at 211 km/hr. 

Morden Police charge two people with Obstructing a Peace Officer for hiding missing youth

Two people were arrested last week in Morden after hiding a youth from police.

The charges stemmed from a report of a missing female, received on July 17th. The female youth was believed to be at a residence in Morden, and when police responded and spoke to two people at the residence, police were told the youth may be somewhere else. 
    
Police checked the home and were unable to locate the missing female.

Morris RCMP arrest, charge two in connection with string of break and enters

Morris RCMP have arrested and charged two people connected to multiple break and enters in the area after executing a search warrant on a home in Morris earlier this month.
    
The search, according to RCMP, yielded ammunition, a firearm, counterfeit currency, stolen ID and personal documents belonging to other individuals, along with lawn equipment, multiple power tools, over 50 bicycles and a small amount of drugs.

Winkler Police call in extra enforcement during Monday evening incident in residential area

The Regional Support Tactical Team was called into action Monday evening in Winkler.

Shortly before 7 pm, Winkler police received a report of an intoxicated man inside his home on Pineview Drive with a loaded handgun and threatening to harm himself. Officers immediately responded to the residence to secure the area. 

Stormy Saturday morning for some, gives way to steamy weekend ahead – Rainwatchers July 16th

A complex of, at times, severe thunderstorms thundered across much of Southern Manitoba during the early morning hours of Saturday. Where more significant storm cells tracked, significant rainfall was reported in some locations in Western Manitoba, as well as the Pembina Valley. According to Environment Canada, very strong wind gusts were also part of the system, with a report of wind gusts of 117 km/h near McAuley and 90 km/h at Brandon.

"A strong ridge of high pressure has been building over the Prairies the last several days, and that's allowing a hot and muggy airmass to move northward out the U.S. in time for the weekend," said CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner. "We've felt a little bit of that heat and humidity this week, but it really arrives in our region Friday through Sunday."

Winkler male and female facing drug trafficking and weapons charges

A 23 year old Winkler male, and 19 year old Winkler female are both facing multiple drug and weapon related charges after being arrested at the conclusion of a cocaine trafficking investigation by Winkler Police Service, which included assistance from Morden Police Service.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. July 8th, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 14 in the R.M. of Stanley. Both the male and female were arrested, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of cash, and a plastic bag with 24 unknown pills.
