Local transmission of measles confirmed in southern rural Sask.
Saskatchewan is seeing a spike in measles cases, with the Ministry of Health confirming local transmission of the infection in southern rural areas.
According to provincial Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab, between March 14 and May 14, there were 37 measles cases reported in the province. The cases range in age from five months to 57 years.
South Hill Community Association donates $5,000 to PSSD for new playground
The new Coteau Hills Elementary School received a significant boost for new playground equipment, thanks to the South Hill Community Association.
During a recent Prairie South School Division Board of Education meeting, the community association presented a cheque for $5,000 to go toward the playground.
Statistics Canada's April inflation data to show impact of carbon price removal
Statistics Canada is set to release inflation data for April today.
Market data shows economists on average expect the annual rate of inflation cooled to 1.6 per cent last month, from 2.3 per cent in March.
The Liberal government eliminated the consumer carbon price at the start of April, offering motorists some relief at the pump.
Last month also marked the first full month of tariffs between Canada and the United States, though both sides have offered some exemptions in the trade dispute.

Canada Post workers issue strike notice, poised to hit picket lines Friday
Canada Post says it has received strike notices from the union representing some 55,000 postal workers, with operations poised to shut down by the end of the week.
The Crown corporation says the union informed it that employees plan to hit the picket line starting Friday morning at midnight.
A work stoppage would affect millions of residents and businesses who typically receive more than two billion letters and roughly 300 million parcels a year via the service.
Saskatchewan road construction season set to get underway
Along with the beginning of summer, the May long weekend is the starting point for construction season on Saskatchewan highways.
"Road and utility workers, first responders, tow truck operators and many other are all working for you on and near our highways, streets and roads," Highways Minister David Marit said. "We ask all motorists to slow down, follow the signs and respect flag persons no matter where their summer travels take them. We want everyone to get home safely."
Boating safety tips from the RCMP: What you need to know before hitting the water
With Safe Boating Awareness Week beginning on Monday, the Saskatchewan RCMP are issuing safety tips and reminders. This is especially timely as May long weekend may see more people getting their boats in the water.
In a release sent by the RCMP, boaters and passengers are encouraged to follow safe boating protocols, including always wearing a life jacket, limiting passengers to not exceed the weight capacity of the watercraft, and having your Pleasure Craft Operator Card (POCC) onboard as it is a requirement for all motorized boat operators.
