Prime Minister Mark Carney to unveil his new cabinet on Tuesday
Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to unveil his new cabinet at Rideau Hall on Tuesday — and it's expected to be a slimmed-down front bench meant to signal a more businesses-minded approach to government.
Rideau Hall confirmed the timing of the swearing-in ceremony on Friday.
Marci Surkes of the government relations firm Compass Rose Group said Carney will seek to draw a sharp contrast between his government and that of former prime minister Justin Trudeau, and about one-third of the new cabinet could be new faces.

The new pope is Robert Francis Prevost an American from Chicago who spent many years as a bishop in Peru, where he also holds citizenship.
Seeding progress steady, ahead of five-year average
Spring seeding in Saskatchewan is making considerable progress so far, 18 per cent of the 2025 crop is in the ground, well ahead of the five-year average of 10 per cent typically seen at this point in the season.

Temporary closure to impact southbound traffic on 5th Ave. NW next week: City
Repairs to a waterline and the removal of a collapsed storm vault will necessitate the temporary closure of the southbound lane of 5th Avenue NW from River Street W to the Thunderbird Viaduct onramp next week.
The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 12, with an expected completion date of May 17, weather permitting.
Temporary detours will be in place and only traffic heading southbound on 5th Avenue NW will be impacted, northbound traffic on 5th Avenue NW from Manitoba Street will not be affected.
Diane Pearl Ashton
Ashton, Diane Pearl passed away May 6, 2025, at the age of 76. At the time of her passing, Diane lived in Moose Jaw, and was formerly of Swift Current and Outlook.
Her residence at time of death was Moose Jaw, she also lived in Swift Current and Outlook at various times.
The graveside service will be held on May 12, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan, with Susan Franklyn officiating and singing. A lunch will follow the service at St Stephen's Anglican Church at 2:15 p.m.

Glenna Grace Buckmaster

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glenna Grace Buckmaster (née: Campbell), wife, mom, grammie, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, in Moose Jaw, SK, at the age of 73 years.
Glenna was born in Moose Jaw on November 25th, 1951, to James (Jim) Stewart Campbell and Blanche Isabel Campbell (née: Pottruff). She grew up on the family farm near Lake Valley, SK, with sister Bonnie Mullin.
