Police now looking to fill 16 officer positions

Between retirements and new provincial funding, the Moose Jaw Police Service is looking for 16 new officers over the next two years. 

Police Chief Rick Bourassa said three people have been identified by their most recent recruitment process, and they’re looking to send them to the Saskatchewan Police College in January. “We were hoping to have four – we just didn’t have four that made it all the way through the process,” he said.

UPDATE: Main St N reopened after rollover results in one death

UPDATE: Police say the rollover, which happened at around 11:49 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, has resulted in fatal injuries for one occupant, with two others transported to hospital. 

One person remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and another was released after being treated for minor injuries. 

Housing minister announces applications open for $1B critical infrastructure program

Applications opened Thursday for a $1-billion federal program to help municipalities and Indigenous communities build critical infrastructure.

The government set aside $1 billion through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund in direct funding to communities to build or improve infrastructure to support drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and solid waste.

Applications are available online for municipalities and Indigenous communities. Those applicants will need to demonstrate how their proposals will support the building of more homes.

CCI students prepare to bring ‘The Addams Family’ musical comedy to Peacock stage

Musical theatre students at Central Collegiate Institute are working on the finishing touches of their fall production — The Addams Family musical comedy will hit the stage at the A.E. Peacock Collegiate Centennial Auditorium, 7 p.m. on Nov. 14, 15, and 16.

Less than 24 hours away from Paws for Pledges Radiothon

The 12th annual Paws for Pledges Radiothon is hitting the airwaves tomorrow on Country 100 in support of the Moose Jaw Humane Society. 

The radiothon will be on the air from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. live from the Moose Jaw Humane Society shelter. This year’s goal is to raise $95,000, with the funds going towards the day-to-day operations of the shelter, emergencies, vet bills, and much more.
