Robert Gordon Huston

Robert “Bob” Gordon Huston aged 69 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Bob was born in Calgary, AB on April 20th, 1955.  He worked mostly in Western Canada as a drywaller and master plasterer.  He enjoyed doing carpentry work and did wonderful work for local people. 

Go on a shopping spree at the upcoming Winter Market!

As we head into the holiday shopping season, a Winter Market is happening at the Town 'N' Country Mall November 9 and 10.

Over 85 vendors are signed up to take over the space next to Monkey Bars Indoor Playcentre, also known as the "Old Safeway." This will be a great opportunity to cross off some items on your Christmas list and support the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank.

Former Moose Jaw MLA's case adjourned yet again

Former Moose Jaw MLA, Greg Lawrence’s case – stemming from January 31 charges of assault and assault by choking – has been adjourned once again. 

His lawyer, Merv Nidesh, appeared via telephone in open court on October 31, to request an adjournment while council seeks resolution.  

As such, Lawrence’s case has been adjourned until December 2, 2024.  

19th annual Better Together Food Drive stopping by Moose Jaw homes tonight

It’s the 19th annual Better Together Food Drive tonight, put on by the Hillcrest Church in support of the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank. 

Daycee Richardson, with the Hillcrest Church, said their volunteers are excited to collect donations around the city. “We have over 400 volunteers that are ready, coming to your door between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to pick up bags of food, boxes of food – whatever you have for us to give to the food bank.” 

Mayoral candidates chime in on SAMA and property assessments

One of the hot-button topics heading into this municipal election will be the city’s contract with the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) and how property assessments are conducted. 

This was a major discussion point during the Mayoral Candidate Forum hosted by the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday night.

It's all in good fun and it's a great boost for retailers.

A new poll found more than a quarter of Canadians will spend $100 or more on Halloween. 

Polling firm Leger surveyed 1,520 adults this month on their Halloween habits.

They found we Canadians will spend an average of $67.65 on Halloween-related expenses – an amount that rises to $121.57 among parents.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are preparing for their Friday night game against the Royals in Victoria. Puck drop will be 8:05, and you can catch all the action on Country 100. 

The Winmar AAA Warriors fell 6-5 to the Notre Dame Hounds in overtime last night. Gage Nagel had a hat trick in a losing cause. The team next hits the ice against the Trojans in Tisdale on Saturday and Sunday.

Cash League Curling last night, Gray beat M & T Feedlot 9-2, it was RK Sunview Farms over EMJ Marketing 7-5, Fountain Tire beat KMS 6-1, and Leeville took out Young & Young 10-2.
