Take 5 - Construction season progress

Rob Carnie - Summer construction. Wow. The City of Moose Jaw just sent out a news release that everybody can access at Moosejaw.ca.

The city provides summer construction update on most impressive list of work that has been done and most noticeable around the city of Moose Jaw is some great work on our roads, some great patching work on manholes being repaired, crosswalks being painted. The city is looking pretty good.

Carnie's Comments - The Full Moon

Carnie's Comments

It was late last Saturday night. I was well-rested and feeling energetic. Then, I remembered, I had been invited to a party in my neighbourhood. I don't go to too many shindigs anymore but I went to that one and stayed out very late.

Back at home, at 2:30am, I was still kind of edgy and then I realized, the moon was full. That explained it for me.

Are our emotions, in fact, heightened during a full moon? I believe they are but, some think it's just folklore.

Take 5 - Landfill update, City considering three locations

Rob Carnie - We continue to look for a spot for the landfill. We know our long time landfill is reaching the end of its life. We got to get out of there and we've got to find a new location and nobody seems to want the landfill in their neighborhood, which is, I suppose, understandable.

But something's going to happen soon. Can you expand on that?

Chinese canola tariffs produce shock for markets, but are likely to level off

China has hit Canada with a new round of canola tariffs, threatening one of Western Canada's biggest cash crops and causing potential issues for farmers looking to sell their crops. The tariffs were announced overnight Monday in China, meaning that people watching the agriculture markets were in for quite the shock Tuesday morning.

Chuck Penner, founder of Left Field Commodity Research, was watching the markets and says much of the agriculture sector saw this coming.
