More than 20 years after launching an arcade room in Red Deer’s Gasoline Alley, Jim Roth has decided to “Play Again.” He even came out of retirement to do it. 

  The Boardwalk (on Gaetz) Entertainment Centre combines the nostalgia of 80s-style arcades with modern, interactive gaming – resulting in a sort of Coney Island theme with additional attractions such as laser tag, a 7D Dark Ride, mini bowling and spaces for birthday parties and other events.

While his official titles are owner and founder, Ray Klassen of Pioneer Wood Designs sees his role as one of team leader and manager for a group of dreamers, planners, and artists. 

“Somebody comes up with a design, and it's our job to figure out how to make it happen,” says Klassen.

Officially, Schnell Industries Inc. was established in 1994 when Fred Dueck opened a farm equipment repair shop in a rented, 600 sq. ft. space in Plum Coulee, MB then known as Dueck Machining. In reality, what would become the well-known manufacturing enterprise began long before that.

“My dad is an inventor,” says Fred’s son Brent Dueck, now the president of Schnell Industries. “He had a burning desire to do his own thing and wanted something his family could be involved with.”
