Portage Clinic sees improvements in 2025
There have been new changes at the Portage Clinic, and Executive Director Brenda Martinussen says the future of care in the Central Plains looks bright.
Clinic services are many, including a UVB booth for skin conditions, allergy testing, penicillin desensitization, EKG/ECGs, spirometry, and 24-hour blood pressure testing. Available procedures include vasectomies, toenail and wart removal, birth control implants, colposcopies, and epidural steroid injections.
St. Joseph's Addiction & Recovery Centre: 'A space to help people heal'
“Everyone I've met has been impacted by the disease of addiction in some shape or form, and as a community we need to talk about it, get honest about it, and heal.”
This is from Shelby Dunnigan, clinical supervisor at St. Joseph’s Addiction & Recovery Centre. Having grown up in the area, she herself has been impacted by addiction and mental health, and says she is grateful to have this centre in the community because it has helped many people from Estevan, the surrounding region, and across Saskatchewan.

Kevin Friesen recalls a group of girls that met at Cypress Bible Camp a number of years ago. They’d arrived from various parts of Saskatchewan and Alberta but remained in touch. Now, every year, they return to the camp for their annual reunion.
“This happens all the time,” says Friesen, the camp’s executive director. “We encourage friendship and treating everybody with love and kindness. It’s really easy to make friends at Cypress.”
