Mrs. Leona Orlanda Nein

Mrs. Leona Orlanda Nein (nee Buhr) passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan at the age of 88. Leona left us peacefully in her sleep with her loving husband of 62 years, Ed, at her side. She was born on September 18, 1936 in Herbert, Saskatchewan, twin to Leander. Mom will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

We express our gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Cypress House, where Leona lived in recent years. At Leona’s request, no formal service will be held.

Sonia McWilliams

Sonia McWilliams passed away peacefully at her home in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on March 12, 2025, with her family by her side. She was 95 years old.

Sonia was born in Moose Jaw, the place she lovingly called home for her entire life. She attended Prince Arthur Elementary School and Central Collegiate Institute before taking a rapid commercial course at Moose Jaw Technical High School, which led to a job at SaskTel until her marriage. Sonia was of Ukrainian heritage. She taught dance and played piano with the local Ukrainian orchestra and dance troupe.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma Joy Hutchinson on Friday March 14, 2025, at the age of 92 years.

Mom was born December 15, 1932, to Tom and Sulina. Mom grew up on the family farm with her three brothers. Following her marriage in 1949 she resided in the Crestwynd area during which time her five daughters were born. She eventually moved to Moose Jaw where she resided for the rest of her life. Mom always remained a farm girl at heart.

Roberta Louise Abrey

It is with heartbreaking sadness that we announce the passing of Roberta (Bobbi) Louise Abrey (née Wolff) on March 16, 2025, at the age of 80, following a short illness.

Roberta is cherished by her loving husband of 61 years, Carman; her two children, April (Ed Fournier) and Kelly.  She will be forever missed and remembered by extended members of the Abrey, Wolff and Stratton families as well as by the many friends she made during her 61 years living in the Moose Jaw area.

Peacefully, on Saturday March 15, 2025 at the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 92, Peter Jeffery went to be with his Lord and Saviour with family at his side.

Peter was born on January 25, 1933 in Portage la Prairie to Lillian Jeffery and William Cecil Jeffery. Peter married Lila Martin on May 28, 1966. They were married for 58 years. Together, they had their daughter Sheila and raised her on the family farm just outside of Portage la Prairie.

Born in Moose Jaw, SK, on June 18th, 2007, to Keri and Terry Blacklaws, Tre was predeceased by his great-grandfather, Tom Wendzina; grandfather, Lorne Heron; great-uncle, Eddy Wendzina; and great-uncle, Bobby Calquhoun.

Effie Senkow, 94, of Sarto passed away Wednesday, March 12th at Bethesda Regional Health Centre. She is survived by 2 sons, 1 brother-in-law, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, 3 sisters, 2 sisters-in-law and 5 brothers-in-law. 
As per her wishes, a private family service for Effie Senkow will take place with burial at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. 
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (and his wife, Anna) and Jenny; her grandchildren, Jael, Jette, Josh, and Brigit; her brothers Waldemar, Harold, and Orlando; her sisters Irmie and Viola; her stepmother Charlotte Redekopp; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.Her mother, Anna Redekopp, her father Isaac Redekopp, and her husband Lothar Schmidt.
