The lack of sunshine didn’t stop the festivities at Saturday’s Gardenton Ukrainian Multicultural Festival.  

The 165-year-old festival kicked off with a worship service and a tour of the St. Michaels Church, one of the oldest Ukrainian churches in Canada. 

It was followed by a lineup of entertaining performances by Irish, African and Ukrainian dance and musical groups.  

This weekend, learn history and catch some baseball action in our southeast communities.   

The Gardenton Ukrainian Multicultural Festival is on Saturday, July 15, and it kicks off with a church service at 10:30 AM and a tour of St. Michael’s Church tour at 11 AM.  

President Kelvin Chubaty says this has been an annual festival since 1965, and “anybody is welcome to the event.” 

A car show on the beach in Manitoba? You best believe it. 

The ninth annual Buffalo Days at Buffalo Point this weekend was packed with many activities and accompanied by summer scenery—all thanks to the beaches nearby.  

They kicked off the festivities on Thursday with a Buffalo Hunt and games. It continued Friday with a golf tournament and Saturday with their Family Fun Fair Day. 

It was activities galore in Mitchell for their annual Mitchell and Area Fun Days. 

They kicked off Saturday with a pancake breakfast, followed by the parade—the first for the weekend event. 

From a marketplace and pickup basketball to barrel rides and pro skate demonstrations, there was no shortage of activities for everyone. 

The competitors of the St. Labre 200 kicked off the weekend with go-kart making on Friday.  

Twenty-four teams are going head-to-head in a 200-lap race with the go-karts they are crafting in 24 hours at St. Labre.  

Joel Grenier is not only the president of the event, but he is also a competitor. 

The second weekend of July is a busy one for many communities in the southeast. If you need weekend plans, you're in the right place.

It’s Mario Kart in real life over at St. Labre for the St. Labre 200. 

On Friday, July 7, teams are provided materials and have 24 hours to build a go-kart. Then, teams go head-to-head in the races on Saturday, July 8.

In round six, we wanted to see photos of you and your family enjoying the water and we saw lots of photo of pools and lakes and spray parks! Congratulations to Beckky who won a $500 hot tub or pool water care package from Urban Life with this photo of her 81-year old mom playing chicken in the pool with her grandkids.

Communities across the nation celebrated Canada’s 156th on Saturday, including Steinbach. 

It was a full-day celebration packed with many activities. The day started at the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) and ended at the Steinbach Soccer Park. 

Vita is known for their Canada Day celebrations—for a good reason.  

Visitors and community members kicked off the weekend on Friday with wood carving, lawnmower races and bouncy castles. 

There were many activities planned for the celebration including team roping, a rodeo sport, and lawnmower races. Both caught the attention of many, drawing crowds for the evening.  

Canada Day is coming up this Saturday, July 1, and the southeast is no stranger to big weekend celebrations.  

It all kicks off at the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) on July 1, where they will have free admission to the museum, activities and entertainment from 9 AM to 5 PM.  

Horse-drawn wagon rides, waffles with white sauce, and an official ceremony at 11 AM are just some activities happening at the MHV.
