Warriors open road trip with loss in Swift Current
Swift Current, SK — A two-goal swing at the end of the first period ended up being too much to overcome for the Moose Jaw Warriors.
The Warriors lost 5-2 to the Swift Current Broncos to open up the team’s eight-game road trip on Monday night.
“There was a lot of instances where we just seemed disconnected and just caused breakdowns throughout the neutral zone, bit of a sloppy game and ended up costing us,” Warriors assistant coach Curtis Pereverzoff said.
Warriors’ streak ends in loss to Hitmen on Saturday
Moose Jaw, SK — The Moose Jaw Warriors’ impressive run on home ice came to a halt on Saturday night.
The Warriors surrendered three goals in the third period and lost 5-3 to the Calgary Hitmen at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
“We were pretty inconsistent, we had our moments, but kind of let off the gas,” Warriors forward Brayden Yager said. “We’ve got to play a full 60 minutes if we’re going to win and I don’t think we did that tonight.”
Warriors cutdown Wheat Kings on Thursday
Moose Jaw, SK — Three goals in the second period were more than enough for the Moose Jaw Warriors on Thursday night.
The Warriors won their sixth straight game and extended their home winning streak to 11 games with a 4-2 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
“It wasn’t our best game tonight, we didn’t play a full 60 minutes, but we found a way to get it done even though we weren’t there for the full 60,” Warriors captain Denton Mateychuk said.
Warriors open road trip with win in Red Deer
Red Deer, AB — For the second time in a week, the Moose Jaw Warriors out battled the Red Deer Rebels.
The Warriors went into Red Deer and topped the Rebels, 6-4, on Friday night to open a two-game Alberta road trip.
“Right from the start, we had momentum, we had chances, they came back at us and credit to them, they’re a team that pushes back hard and I thought it was back-and-forth for a lot of it,” Warriors assistant coach Curtis Pereverzoff said.
Calvert’s hat trick pushes Warriors over Edmonton Tuesday
Moose Jaw, SK — The Moose Jaw Warriors got the job done on Tuesday night at the Hangar.
Atley Calvert scored a natural hat trick in the first period and helped power the Warriors to a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
“It wasn’t pretty at times, but at the end of the day, you’ve got to win those games if you’re a good team,” Calvert said after the win. “At the end of the day, we won and that’s all that matters.”
Warriors double up Rebels on Saturday night
Moose Jaw, SK — In an Eastern Conference clash with playoff implications, the Moose Jaw Warriors put their best foot forward on Saturday night.
The Warriors doubled up the Red Deer Rebels, 6-3, to sweep their two-game weekend home-stand.
“The last few games have felt like playoff games, they’re hard, heavy games, quick, fast, both teams are able to make plays with it and that’s what we can expect moving forward, so it’s great to come out with a win,” Warriors assistant coach Curtis Pereverzoff said.
Third period charge lifts Warriors past Raiders Friday
Moose Jaw, SK — The Moose Jaw Warriors kicked off February on the right foot with a hard fought win on Friday night.
Atley Calvert and Lynden Lakovic scored in the third period as the Warriors topped the Prince Albert Raiders, 3-1, at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
“[Prince Albert], they’re known for being physical, I thought we did a pretty good job with it, we tailed it with some big hits of our own,” Lakovic said after the win.
Warriors stumble in third, fall to Tigers Saturday
Medicine Hat, AB — Over the course of their six-game winning streak, the Moose Jaw Warriors had mounted their share of third-period comebacks, but the script was flipped on them on Saturday night.
The Warriors surrendered three goals in the third period on their way to a 5-3 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers at Co-op Place, splitting their weekend home-and-home series.
Warriors win sixth straight, top Tigers in shootout
Moose Jaw, SK — The Moose Jaw Warriors keep finding ways to win.
After trailing 3-0 in the first and 4-2 in the third, the Warriors roared back to top the Medicine Hat Tigers, 6-5, in a shootout on Friday night.
“There was a couple points in the game where it was the noisiest I’ve heard this building in a long time, so that was great to see,” Warriors associate coach Scott King said.
Warriors sweep weekend series with Broncos
Moose Jaw, SK — It wasn’t pretty at times, but the Moose Jaw Warriors fought their way to their fifth straight win on Saturday night.
Brayden Yager scored on the power play in the final minute of regulation to lift the Warriors to a 4-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos.
“Both games this weekend were fast paced, they played really hard and so did we, it was pretty physical, we did a pretty good job of pushing back and not letting our foot off the gas,” Yager said after the win.
