A young boy is dead after falling from a window on the 19th floor of a Winnipeg high-rise on Thanksgiving Day according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

The WPS says that the incident took place on Monday evening in the Central Park neighbourhood.

The Canadian Press reports that the four-year-old was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The WPS tells the Canadian Press that its child abuse unit determined the fall to be accidental. As a result, no arrests have been made.

The Homicide Unit continues to search for answers to a murder that occurred over a year ago. 

Oct. 14, 2024 marks one year since 24-year-old Joseph Campbell from Winnipeg was killed. The Homicide Unit asks the public for assistance in locating the persons of interest. 

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2023, Campbell was grievously assaulted by a group of individuals in the 300 block of Keenleyside Street. The suspects fled the area, and Campbell subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

A store employee is facing charges after an alleged shoplifting incident turned violent. 

At around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Winnipeg police say a 41-year-old man entered a commercial business in the 600 block of Wiliam Avenue and left with stolen merchandise. A 28-year-old employee armed himself with an edged weapon and confronted the man outside.  

The fight escalated to the point where the store employee struck the victim multiple times with the edged weapon. 

Frank Huang, the concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, recently acquired an important violin bow through a private sale by Tarisio.

Crafted by renowned bow maker Pierre Simon, it was originally made for Belgian diplomat Prince Caraman de Chimay as part of a decorated quartet commissioned by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, the most famous French violin maker of the 19th century.

The bow, which is adorned with the Caraman de Chimay family’s coat of arms and intricate engravings, is mounted in ebony and gold.

Accusations of widespread murder, extortion and coercion across Canada linked to agents of the government of India sparked an escalation of already strained diplomatic tensions Monday, as each country expelled six diplomats.

Canada declared six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, persona non grata after RCMP and other government officials told India its diplomats were persons of interest in several investigations into violent crimes in Canada. 

India swiftly retaliated by ordering six Canadian diplomats to leave the country by Saturday.
