The Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-35) suffered their 15th one-run loss of the season Wednesday evening, falling 3-2 to the Sioux Falls Canaries (35-25) at Sioux Falls Stadium. It was Winnipeg’s sixth consecutive defeat.

Manitoba cabinet minister did not break conflict law, ethics report says
Manitoba's ethics commissioner has ruled Mike Moroz, the minister of innovation and new technology, did not break the province's conflict of interest law.
The Opposition Progressive Conservatives had accused Moroz of being in a conflict by answering questions about a 9-1-1 service outage while owning shares in Telus.
The Tories also accused Moroz of using inside information that criticized the phone company for the outage and selling company stock.

Jets release schedule for upcoming season
The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, in partnership with the National Hockey League, has announced its full 82-game schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 regular season.
The Jets begin the season at home, welcoming the Dallas Stars to Canada Life Centre on Thursday, Oct. 9, in a rematch of their second-round series from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They will then face the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, Oct. 11, before hitting the road to play the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Monday, Oct. 13.
B.C. pilot charged with hijacking and terrorism over Vancouver flight
A man charged with hijacking a light plane at Victoria International Airport and flying it to Vancouver had an "ideological motive to disrupt airspace" and seized control of the aircraft after threatening a flight instructor, RCMP said Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for the Public Prosecution Service of Canada said a charge of hijacking had been filed in Richmond, B.C., constituting a "terrorist activity" and a "terrorist offence" under two sections of the Criminal Code.
RCMP said Shaheer Cassim, 39, is set to appear in court next Tuesday.
Survey suggests some Manitobans support higher hydro rates and appliance use at night
Some Manitobans appear willing to pay higher electricity rates and shift their energy use to nighttime, an opinion poll commissioned by Crown-owned Manitoba Hydro suggests.
The findings come as the utility is asking the provincial regulator to approve rate increases in each of three next three years in order to replace aging infrastructure, avoid an increase in power outages and bring new generating power online.
Unionized Canada Post workers to vote on deal starting July 21
Unionized Canada Post workers will get a chance to vote directly on the employer's offers for a new collective agreement starting on Monday.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board will run the vote between July 21 and Aug. 1.
A simple majority vote will decide whether the proposal is accepted or rejected.
Canada Post is at an impasse with the union representing roughly 55,000 postal service workers after 19 months of talks.
West End shooting sends two to hospital
Two males were injured after a shooting in the West End on Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:42 p.m. on July 15, West District General Patrol and Tactical Support Team (TST) responded to reports of shots being fired in the 1800 block of Ellice Avenue.
Two males, aged 16 and 18, were suffering from gunshot wounds. First aid was provided by officers.
Both males were taken to the hospital. One of the males remains in unstable condition and is awaiting surgery while the other is in stable condition. The injuries are not life-threatening.
Ready to drive? MPI’s Driver Z program opens for registration July 23
Registration for Manitoba Public Insurance's (MPI) popular high school education program, Driver Z, will soon be open.
MPI announced on Wednesday that it will open on July 23 at 8 a.m.
The program is offered in several communities around Manitoba. A mix of Lessons, virtual, and in-person classes is used. Students gain valuable experience through the in-car learning sessions, which provide knowledge and skills to drive safely and prevent collisions.
Lithium-ion battery suspected in Transcona blaze: WFPS issues safety tips
A Transcona fire on Tuesday night is believed to have been caused by a lithium-ion battery or charger failure.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on July 16, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 300 block of Kildare Avenue West.
When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found smoke coming from the house and launched an interior fire attack. The blaze was declared under control at 10:27 p.m.
All occupants safely self-evacuated prior to the crew's arrival. No injuries were reported.
