Fundraisers to help George McDougall students celebrate in style

Graduation is one of the most anticipated events for high school students, culminating years of hard work and dedication. However, its financial burdens—such as ticket prices, formal attire, and celebrations—can overwhelm many families.

To address this challenge, Shannon McCallum, a dedicated parent and long-time community member, is collaborating with others on the George McDougall High School grad committee to ensure that every student can enjoy a memorable night without the stress of prohibitive costs.

St. Tim's valedictorian recommends using personality to shape goals

Natalie Kotch said her peers wanted her to be valedictorian before she knew she wanted the role. 

The grade 12 St. Timothy High School student said her friends have been mentioning it to her since Jr. High and she was unsure at first but felt confident as the school year drew closer to the end. 

Kotch said she volunteers at St. Mary's Parish, she's a competitive dancer at Snap Dance Studios and she's had the highest academic average in her class since grade 8.

St. Timothy High School paused to celebrate the accomplishments of their Class of 2023 on May 26.

"We gather in the embrace of our small Cochrane Catholic school to celebrate their extraordinary achievements," said principal Marilyn Nesse in her address. "It's with joy and gratitude that I stand before you as your principal, knowing that you've reached the pinnacle of your first academic journey, and we proudly declare that we made it; you made it."

Springbank's valedictorian talks robotics and plans for engineering future

Jordan Inverarity will represent her fellow classmates as valedictorian at next month's graduation ceremony at Springbank Community High School. 

She's been given the honours because of her good grades, and her involvement in a wide-range of school and extra-curricular activities. 

Lives with Less Plastic founder named Bow Valley valedictorian

This year's valedictorian for Bow Valley High School has shown outstanding leadership, community involvement and a strong academic performance. 

Jade Janzen will represent the class of 2023 at the upcoming graduation ceremony next month. 

There were five students nominated for this year's role as valedictorian, and Janzen said being selected didn't just come down to academics.
