UPDATE: Semis collide near Rush Lake

One eastbound lane has opened up to traffic again on Highway 1 near Rush Lake, as crews work to clear the scene.

Drivers headed east of Swift Current on the Trans-Canada Highway this morning should be prepared to stop around Rush Lake. 

According to the Highway Hotline, the hills near the community are icy this morning, and semis are unable to climb them.

Child Care Subsidy and SES to be replaced with new incentive

Applications are open for the provincial government's new program to aid low-income families. 

The Saskatchewan Employment Incentive (SEI) determines a monthly financial benefit based on the number of children in the household. Working parents earning between $500 and $2,200 per month may be eligible for the maximum monthly SEI benefit ranging from $400 to $600.

Summer planning is just around the corner and SaskParks just announced this year's campsite reservation dates to help residents get a head start. 

Seasonal camping books open on the first day of April, followed by nightly, camp-easy, and group campsites which can be reserved on April 2 through 9. 

Minh Truong, director of park experiences with SaskParks, recommended individuals create an account ahead of launch days.  

Lightning strikes twice for young Tampa fan

A father-son duo from Tompkins had an unforgettable day at the Saddledome last month when the young southwest resident met one of his heroes.

Manni Brost's first NHL experience was to see his favourite team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, with his father Leif Brost. Nearing the end of the night, the young fan waited behind the team's bench to see each player leave the ice.
