New 24-hour AED station unveiled at Churchill Park

The City of Estevan unveiled their new AED machine at Churchill Park today, funded through a grant by CPKC.

At the event, Helen Fornwald spoke about how the device helps out the community, with Mayor Roy Ludwig and Estevan EMS paramedic Brad Robinson also speaking.

During the event, Fornwald talked about the unit and what it brings to the community.

Radville ER remains closed, extending service disruption

The ER at the Marian Health Centre in Radville will remain closed for the rest of the week. 

On Monday, it was announced the ER would be closed from 8 p.m. that day until 8 a.m. this morning. The ER, however, did not re-open. The town of Radville, through its alert system, issued a notification today that the ER would be closed until 8 a.m. Friday.  

Estevan Police keep the peace with busts, bust-ups, and a bus-top dance

Estevan Police Service handled a range of incidents over the weekend, including impaired driving, domestic disturbances, drug trafficking, and a late-night party bus warning, marking a busy and varied round of calls for officers.

On Oct. 25, police were dispatched to a residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. A 22-year-old man was arrested for mischief and lodged in cells. The matter remains under investigation.

Second Preliminary Count to take a look at mail-in ballots from Saskatchewan voters

The Saskatchewan election will have another round of vote counting today as Elections Saskatchewan enters its Second Preliminary Count.

On the 28th, election officials hand-counted over 400,000 ballots as part of the First Preliminary Count, which delivered the first look at the province's voting record.

Now the Second Preliminary Count will look at the 20,417 vote-by-mail ballots which have been returned by October 26, 2024. This count will be held centrally in Regina.

Canadian Grain Commission partners with Soy Canada for 2024 harvest

There is a new partnership delivering the Soy Quality Program to Canadian producers.  

Nathan Gerelus is the manager of National Affairs at the Canadian Grain Commission, based in Winnipeg, and he says, 

“We are excited to have recently partnered with Soy Canada to deliver the Soy Quality Program, and that will start with this year's 2024 harvest.”

Marcel Breault, late of Forget, SK passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Regina Pasqua Hospital at the age of 95 years.

A Prayer Service for Marcel will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 4:00p.m. at Hall Funeral Services in Estevan, SK.

Halloween weather looking to be ideal, if a bit chilly

With parents preparing their children for Halloween tomorrow night, a bit of fall chill is sweeping through the area which could cause concern for parents.

Temperatures are expected to be close to seasonal, which will mean a frigid night temperature for any late trick-or-treaters.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says that other than the temperatures the weather will be smooth over the next few days.
