Liberal House Leader Karina Gould says she's running for party leadership
Government House Leader Karina Gould says she’s ready to throw her hat in the ring to replace Justin Trudeau as Liberal leader.
Gould says in a video posted to social media that Canadians have lost faith in the party and the Liberals need to earn back their trust.
She says the party needs to rebuild with a leader who has a track record of standing up to bullies and won’t back down.
The 37-year-old millennial is the youngest candidate to declare, just days before the official deadline to enter the race.

Minister anticipates border security plan to complement ongoing federal initiative
The Government of Saskatchewan announced the introduction of a Saskatchewan Border Security Plan (SBSP) to enhance border security between the province and the United States. Tim McLeod, Saskatchewan Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, says while border security is the jurisdiction of the federal government, the SBSP is designed to align with efforts already being applied.

SaskCanola and SaskFlax merge into the brand new SaskOilSeeds
Yesterday, at the Western Canadian Crop Production Show in Saskatoon, SK, a new brand was announced. SaskCanola and SaskFlax announced that they would be amalgamating under one brand called SaskOilSeeds. While this amalgamation isn’t brand new, in fact, they officially merged together on August 1st, 2024, this announcement marks a new chapter in oilseeds for producers in Saskatchewan. Tracy Broughton is the executive director of the new SaskOilSeeds brand, and she talks about why this merger was needed, and how it will help producers of Saskatchewan oilseeds in the future.

SaskPower to look at maintaining and refurbishing coal-fired power units
The provincial government is planning to look at refurbishing coal-fired power units in a commitment to coal power, according to SaskPower Minister Jeremy Harrison.
He toured around the Poplar River, Boundary Dam, and Shand power stations this week, discussing the news with employees before announcing that to the public.
