“Just one more kind of cooler night. We're expecting wind chills into the minus 30s overnight tonight. Not quite extreme warning criteria but still will be pretty cold nonetheless.”

Family says man received MAID on psychiatric day pass, files wrongful-death lawsuit
The family of a 52-year-old man who received medical assistance in dying while on a day pass from a Vancouver psychiatric hospital has launched a constitutional challenge to the procedure's legal framework.
The notice of civil claim filed Friday at the B.C. Supreme Court says the businessman and father of three, who suffered chronic back pain and long-term mental illness, suffered wrongful death in December 2022.
It accuses Dr. Ellen Wiebe and her clinic of malpractice, though none of the allegations have been proven in court.

Southeast mayors reflect on snowstorm impacts
The recent snowstorm in southeast Saskatchewan posed different challenges for communities, but local mayors in Lampman and Roche Percée are optimistic as they navigate the aftermath.
In Lampman, Mayor Scott Greening detailed the town’s ongoing efforts to manage snow removal following a heavy snowstorm compounded by mechanical issues with snow-clearing equipment. “Anyone driving a car in town should probably wait until we get the streets plowed,” Greening advised, noting that vehicles with higher clearance have less trouble navigating the deep snow.

Estevan coated in snow with unseasonably warm Christmas in the forecast
Environment Canada says that the southeast saw quite the system overnight, with that leaving high amounts of snowfall.
That stretched across mainly the southern area, though areas as far north as North Battlefords also saw a decent pile of snow.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says while they don't have a report for Estevan, the surrounding areas paint a picture for the southeast.
