Tariffs could be coming from the U.S. soon following their most recent presidential election, which would have a big impact on Canada.
A 25 per cent general tariff has been floated, which would impact a number of exports to America such as oil, lumber, and other commodities.

Frosty Fest fills Lampman with warmth and cheer
Lampman residents and visitors embraced the holiday spirit during Frosty Fest over the weekend, with activities and events that brought the community together.
The event, organized by Lampman Recreation Director Stacey Trombley, drew a strong turnout and gave Trombley, who recently started in the role, a chance to connect with the community.
“We had a really good turnout of people,” Trombley said. “We had lots of faces that were new to me. Of course, everybody’s new to me because I’m brand new to this position.”
Dustin Pratt Memorial Fund introduces scholarships for Estevan graduates
In memory of Dustin Pratt, a beloved member of the community who tragically passed away in 2016, the Dustin Pratt Memorial Fund has announced an exciting new initiative: two scholarships for students graduating from Estevan Comprehensive High School in 2025.
Each $1,000 scholarship will support students entering the trades the same year they graduate. The idea, inspired by Dustin’s passion for helping others and his own family’s connection to the trades, marks a meaningful new chapter for the memorial fund.

Canadians warned to use caution in South Korea after martial law declared then lifted
Global Affairs Canada is warning Canadians in South Korea to avoid demonstrations and exercise caution after the country's president imposed an hours-long period of martial law.
The situation in South Korea arose after President Yoon Suk Yeol imposed martial law on Tuesday, vowing to eliminate what he described as "anti-state" forces from the opposition that controls parliament.
Yoon's declaration triggered tense political drama, as troops surrounded the parliament while 190 lawmakers gathered inside to vote to lift the martial law shortly after it was imposed.
Retail council calls for government intervention in Canada Post strike
The Retail Council of Canada is calling on the federal government to intervene in a postal strike it says is putting businesses and their workers in jeopardy.
The organization representing 54,000 storefronts said Tuesday that the work stoppage at Canada Post is making it harder for retailers to meet customer needs and stay in business.

RCMP respond to vehicle emergencies around the Estevan area
The Estevan RCMP has been busy since the weekend as winter conditions have led to road accidents piling up in the southeast.
One of those occurred on November 30, when RCMP members received a call about a collision.
That took place just after 6 p.m., just north of Benson on Highway 47. A vehicle had struck a deer, and as that vehicle slowed down, another vehicle struck it from behind causing a two-vehicle collision.
