RCMP creates drone corridor along part of U.S. border in bid to boost security
The RCMP is introducing a drone corridor along part of the Canada-U.S. border in an effort to boost security.
Drones are to patrol the border in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in what the RCMP says is a trial.
The force says the corridor has been established with help from Transport Canada and drone patrols will target illegal activity including smuggling and drug trafficking.
It says the corridor extends from the ground to 500 feet in the air and one nautical mile north of the border, or just under two kilometres.

Mayor of Richmound claims Didulo is pumping sewage into public park
The mayor of Richmound is calling for help from provincial officials.
In a recent update shared on Facebook by Richmound's Mayor Brad Miller, he claims Romana Didulo and others staying at the former Richmound school are pumping sewage into the park.
Referring to them as a "QAnon Cult", Miller shared a video of a hose that's pumping liquid away from the school and into the surrounding grounds, including the local ball diamonds and park.
Macoun residents asked to conserve water during well maintenance
The Village of Macoun will undergo essential water well maintenance starting Monday, August 11 at 7:00 a.m., continuing through to Wednesday, August 13 at 11:00 p.m. During this three-day period, the well will be out of commission, and residents are being asked to significantly conserve water.
While basic needs such as dishes, bathing, and urgent laundry are permitted, the village has issued a strict ban on all outdoor water use. Residents are also asked to avoid long showers, baths, and unnecessary laundry to help preserve the limited water supply.
