On October 16th police received a call reporting a 36-year-old male breaching his conditions not to communicate with an ex or come to her residence. The male was arrested on Garwood Drive. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of January 9th, 2025.

Cremation has taken place. 
A memorial service for Bertha Klassen will be held Monday, October 21st at 11am at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Highway.

The funeral service for Abram H. Abe Suderman will be held Saturday, October 19th at 2pm at Winkler M-B Church with burial at Westridge Memorial Gardens.

AFN head urges support for child welfare deal, says they won't get better from Tories

The national chief of the Assembly of First Nations is urging chiefs to vote in favour of a landmark child welfare deal with Ottawa, saying she doesn't think a better agreement would be possible under a different federal government.

Some chiefs are campaigning to vote down the $47.8-billion child welfare reform agreement at an assembly in Calgary this week.

Sports Update - Thursday, October 17th

The Brandon Wheat Kings opened their five-game homestand with a 6-3 victory over the WHL's Western Conference leading Spokane Chiefs at Westoba Place. Matteo Michels and Marcus Nguyen had two goals each for Brandon. Joby Baumuller and Nolan Flamand also scored for the Wheat Kings who led 3-0 after the first period. The Chiefs rallied with three unanswered second period goals to tie the game at 3-3. Michels potted the go-ahead goal with 60 seconds left in the middle frame.

Premier discusses Team Manitoba approach to solving affordable housing shortage

Manitoba's Premier is excited about what he calls a 'Team Manitoba' approach to increasing affordable housing options in the province.

The Manitoba government announced last week that it is providing $10 million in grant funding to the Business Council of Manitoba to support a new investment trust that will increase the availability of affordable housing units in Manitoba.
