With the forecast calling for precipitation in southeast Saskatchewan starting tomorrow, many are wondering if we will be getting as much snow here in the Weyburn area as Cypress Hills could get.
Steady pace of local home prices slowing as new listings increase
Cochrane has seen a big bump in new listings of homes for sale, but the town is still sitting below average trends.
“New listings improved, reporting the highest October total on record,” reads the October report released by The Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB). Recent gains in new listings relative to sales have helped support some steady gains in inventory levels.”
“However, with 178 units available in October, inventories are still below long-term trends, keeping the months of supply relatively low at 2.3 months.”
RCMP say alcohol may have caused two serious weekend collisions near Steinbach
RCMP have provided more details on two crashes that the Hanover Fire Department responded to over the weekend.
According to police, there was a single-vehicle rollover Saturday evening along Road 35E. It happened north of the Old Tom Road and Park Road intersection. Police say the single-vehicle rollover happened at 8:40 pm and was reported through iPhone collision notification.
According to RCMP, a pickup truck was travelling along Road 35E, lost control, over-corrected and rolled.
Sylvan Lake strives to break pumpkin line world record
The Town of Sylvan Lake is determined to set a new world record for the longest line of pumpkins this year.
To set the new record, Sylvan Lake and area residents are encouraged to bring their pumpkins, carved or uncarved, to Lions Park to help build the pumpkin trail until Nov. 7.
Estevan Fire Rescue tackles rollover incident and grass fire in busy week
Estevan Fire Rescue (EFR) was active last week, responding to a range of emergency calls throughout the city.
On October 28, 2024, just before 8 a.m., EFR was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the central part of the city. Upon investigation, no emergency was found, and a possible issue with the alarm system was noted.
The following day, around 11 a.m., EFR was requested to a commercial property in the north end of the city to investigate an odour. A duty officer responded and determined there was no fire; the smell was caused by cleaning chemicals.
Canada now studying storms in hopes of lessening damage
The United States has one. Europe has one, and now Canada has one too. The Canadian Severe Storms Laboratory at Western University in London, Ontario celebrated its official launch last week. Dr. David Sills is the Executive Director of the Northern Tornadoes Project, which is under the umbrella of the Severe Storms Laboratory. He says the goal is the improve detection and documentation, to try to mitigate harm to Canadians and their properties.
Wanted man arrested at Winnipeg hotel
A man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested at a Winnipeg hotel.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., on Nov. 2, 2024, officers from the Central District General Patrol went to a hotel in the 200 block of McDermot Avenue to arrest a male who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Officers located the male suspect in the suite and took him into custody without incident. While in the suite, officers found a handgun, drugs, and currency.
Lacombe Fire Department responds to controlled burn Sunday night
The Lacombe Fire Department responded to a farmer-controlled burn east of the city on Sunday night.
The burn was located at RR 262 and Hwy 12.
Assistant Deputy Chief Mike Regier noted that the farmer was burning brush piles and that there were no concerns with the burn.

Two individuals facing firearm related charges after morning collision in downtown Winnipeg
Two individuals are facing firearm-related charges after a vehicle collided with a street sign early Monday morning.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., on Nov. 4, officers from the Winnipeg Police Service’s Central District saw a vehicle collide with a street sign near Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street.
A loaded handgun and ammunition were found inside the vehicle. Both the male driver and female passenger were not injured in the collision.
An impairment-related investigation was launched as police took both the driver and passenger into custody.
