Update: Emergency crews responding to collision near Crossfield industrial area

A previous collision near Crossfield has been cleared.

Earlier this morning, multiple emergency crews were reported responding to what appeared to be a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 2A near the entrance to the Crossfield Industrial area at McCool Crescent.

According to witness reports, the vehicle involved was on its side, and the local fire department was managing the situation. Witnesses also reported seeing emergency vehicles heading north from Airdrie toward the site.

There was no confirmed information yet regarding injuries or the cause of the crash.

A potential collision west of the Balzac (8 Street) roundabout on Highway 566 has been cleared. 

Motorists previously reported that the collision involved what appeared to be a truck, though no other details were provided.

Update: Airdrie RCMP remains on scene of early morning 40th Avenue incident

Mounties said they had cleared the scene on 40 Avenue near South Point Landing just before nine this morning.

"Traffic can resume in both directions. Thank you to the public for your cooperation," police added.

In the early morning hours on Friday, Airdrie RCMP was on the scene of a police incident near the railway crossing on 40th Avenue, close to South Point Landing - for several hours.

Mounties initially reported the incident early Friday morning, just before 5 a.m., stating that traffic was being diverted in all directions as officers worked there.

UPDATE: Holiday travellers facing QEII slow downs due to collisions

If you are headed north this weekend for the holidays you could be in store for some slow downs.

Alberta RCMP advises of poor driving conditions on the QE II Highway between Leduc and Red Deer. RCMP have responded to several QE II collisions throughout the morning.

Icy patches were contributing to poor road conditions and they say travel is not recommended.

Freezing rain advisory could disrupt Christmas travel plans this weekend

Patchy freezing rain is forecast to impact Alberta early this morning, creating potentially hazardous conditions for commuters with holiday travel plans.
