Thousands affected by Airdrie power outage
Thousands of Airdronians are without power this morning.
Fortis Alberta is working on the issue, and the estimated time of restoration is at 8:30 a.m.
The power has been out since approximately 5:30 a.m.
The lights are out along much of Main Street Airdrie, and many businesses are affected.

No word on the cause of the outage.

What to expect with QEII road closures
Beginning on Wednesday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. there will be lane closures headed Northbound on the QEII in the are of the 40th Avenue interchanges.
According to the city, closures will affect the right then the left-hand single lanes, with rolling lane closures to be expected. The closures are meant to accommodate directional drilling for electrical and to create a safe work zone for crews.
At 12. p.m til 3 p.m. the Southbound lanes will also be impacted, with left then right-hand single rolling lane closures.
Update: Fatal collision has shut down portion of Stoney and Deerfoot Trail
EMS has reported that one individual, a man in his mid 30's was killed in a motor vehicle collision that occurred Thursday evening on Deerfoot Trail. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The collision which was reported as a vehicle rollover shut down the off-ramp on Deerfoot Trail Northeast onto the Eastbound Stoney Trail for several hours on Thursday evening. The ramp has since re-opened.
Another individual, also a male in his 30s was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition.
Police have note released the cause into the crash.
City responds to missing stop sign in high traffic area
After a concerned resident of Airdrie noted that there was what appeared to be a missing stop sign on the corner near the Boston Pizza restaurant (Gateway Rise), they notified the city. The resident noted that considering this area experiences high traffic volume in the mornings this is a significant safety hazard. However, he was told that this is not a city jurisdiction.
Update: Collision headed Southbound on QEII
The scene has since been cleared.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, motorists reported a multi-vehicle collision headed Southbound on the QEII near Highway 201 near the CrossIron Mills mall in the center lane.
Update: Collision North of Airdrie impacting weekend traffic
The scene has been cleared. Earlier on Sunday evening, police confirmed that they were called to a multi-vehicle collision on the QEII highway near Township Road 310. There were minor injuries reported.
RCMP provide update on Yankee Valley Boulevard collisions
Airdrie RCMP responded to two collisions involving eight cars on Saturday afternoon. Police believe though it is early in the investigation a medical issue may have contributed to the incident.
"[The] initial investigation has revealed that a vehicle travelling at high-speed Eastbound on Yankee Valley Boulevard struck two vehicles flipping one over," RCMP stated.
The vehicle continued Eastbound until it struck five additional vehicles stopped at the intersection at 8 Street.
Update: Serious injuries reported in Yankee Valley vehicle collisions
The scene of two earlier collisions on Yankee Valley Boulevard has been cleared.
According to EMS, three adults in total were transported to Calgary hospitals via ground ambulance. One individual is considered to be in a life-threatening condition at this time, while the two others are in non-life-threatening, stable condition.
