Red Wings slip against Bruins at home

While Friday night's game between the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and Estevan Bruins would have little impact on the standings, there would be a lot in the way of pride on the line. A single point would give Weyburn the Highway 39 Cup, while the Bruins were looking to get a win to help their efforts to recapture the trophy.

The Red Wings would be the first to get on the board when Josh Sale scored 3:07 into the game. The goal, his 12th of the campaign, was assisted by Ethan Dekay and Cyprus Smith-Davis.

Red Wings clinch division title with win over Broncos

For the first time since the 2015-16, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings are the division champions. Captain Blake Betson scored twice, and Jerome Maharaj added a goal himself, as the Red Wings skated to a 3-2 win over the Humboldt Broncos at Crescent Point Place. The win secured the top spot in the division over the Yorkton Terriers. It also means Weyburn will have the third seed in the SJHL playoffs.

Red Wings send Millionaires home with loss

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings edged closer to clinching first in the Viterra Division Friday night, as they skated to a 3-1 win over the Melville Millionaires at Crescent Point Place.

"I thought the boys played well tonight," said head coach Cody Mapes after the game. "Tonight wasn't about X's and O's. It was about mentality, and it was about a willingness to compete and get to the blue paint. I thought our guys did a really good job."
