Red Wings make it three in a row over Bombers

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings pushed the Flin Flon Bombers to the brink of elimination Tuesday night. Ethan Dekay scored a hat trick as the Red Wings skated to a 4-1 win on home ice at Crescent Point Place to go up 3-0 in their best-of-seven semifinal series. 

"Couldn't have done it without my teammates, and my linemates," Dekay said after the game. 

"It was a little sloppy," Red Wings head coach Cody Mapes said of his team's performance. "But at the end of the day, we did some things that we believe are going to give us success here throughout the series."

Home-ice advantage: Excitement planned as Red Wings playoffs continue

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings took a commanding lead in the semi-final series against the Flin Flon Bombers, winning games one and two in Flin Flon over the weekend. The series will continue tonight and tomorrow here in Weyburn.

Red Wings defuse Bombers to take Game 2 in Flin Flon

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings are coming back home with a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven SJHL semifinal series with Flin Flon Bombers, after winning Game 2 in Flin Flon Saturday night. 

"I kind of sound like a broken record here, but our guys are just continuing to get better every day," said head coach Cody Mapes after the 4-1 victory. "They're doing a good job to play within themselves, and everybody's just doing their job."

Due North: Red Wings prepare for Game 1 of the SJHL semifinals against Bombers

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings head north to the Whitney Forum to take on the Flin Flon Bombers in Game 1 of the SJHL semifinals. The Red Wings come in as the underdog, ranking third in the SJHL regular season compared to the Bombers who ranked second. That means the Bombers will have home-ice advantage, however the Red Wings have been excellent on the road all year long. 

Matonovich save named SJHL Highlight of the Year

All season long, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings have been showcasing their skills with a number of highlight reel plays. One play, however, has stood out above the rest. 

On March 8th, in a game against the Melville Millionaires, goaltender Ty Matonovich made a save that has captured the attention of the entire league. Divng across the crease, he got his stick in front of a shot by Millionaires' forward Gaborik Carlson, saving what looked to be a sure goal. After a vote by fans, the save was named the SJHL's Highlight of the Year.

Red Wings move on to semi-finals

Liam Fitzgerald opened the scoring, and Max Chakrabarti finished it, as the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings beat the Battlefords North Stars 2-1 Monday night to advance to the SJHL semifinals. The win gave the Red Wings the series win in six games, and marks the first time since the 2011-12 season the team has advanced to the semi-finals.  

Red Wings edged out in overtime to force Game 6

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings had a chance to clinch their best-of-seven quarterfinal series against the Battlefords North Stars in five games Saturday night. Game 5 would go to overtime at Crescent Point Place, but it would be the North Stars coming out on top, winning 4-3. 

The Red Wings were first on the board when Braigh LeGrandeur scored his first of the post-season with 4:46 left to go in the first period. The goal was assisted by Ryder Rommelaere and Drew Molde.
