Rally from North Stars beats Red Wings at home
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings came out of the gate with momentum as they took on the Battlefords North Stars Wednesday night at Crescent Point Place. The Wings would score the first goal, but then the momentum swung in the other direction, with the North Stars scoring seven straight goals to skate to a 7-1 victory.
Red Wings Klipped at home by Kindersley
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings came into the game Saturday night against the Kindersley Klippers with a ton of momentum, riding a two-game winning streak. They were looking to make it three in a row, but a slow shift in momentum throughout the game would be a key difference, as the Klippers went on to beat the Red Wings 4-2.
“We lost our good habits there for a while, and just couldn’t get them back,” said Red Wings head coach Cody Mapes after the game.
Two in a row over Melville for Red Wings
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings notched their second win in a row Friday night, as they got past the Melville Millionaires 3-2 at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville.
Head coach Cody Mapes, after the game, said the Red Wings weathered a bit of a storm in the opening 20 minutes.
Red Wings close out homestand with win
Three players scored their first-ever SJHL goal, including the one that was the overtime winner, as the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings closed out their four-game homestand with a 4-3 victory over the Melville Millionaires Tuesday night. The win also snapped a losing streak the team had been in since January 9th.
Red Wings hold Calcutta shootout
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings held their Calcutta Shootout Saturday night after the game against the Flin Flon Bombers.
The event was enjoyed by the fans, and after a gruelling series of breakaways to determine tiebreakers, goaltender Jackson Fellner was the winner after he stonewalled the four shooters who had made it to the finals: Matthew Reidy, Ethan Clements, Nick Kovacs and Ty Mason.
Bombers shutout Red Wings at Crescent Point Place
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings welcomed the Flin Flon Bombers to Crescent Point Place Saturday night, looking to end their eight-game losing streak. Weyburn would come out of the gate, putting a lot of pressure on the Bombers in the first few moments of the game. However, a span of one minute and 48 seconds changed the entire momentum of the game, and the Bombers would go on to a 6-0 victory.
Red Wings put in dog house by Hounds
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings came out firing on all cylinders Friday night as they entertained the Notre Dame Hounds at Crescent Point Place. They would build up to a 2-0 lead by the five-minute mark of the second period, but then Notre Dame came roaring back. The Hounds would score four goals in the second period, and four more in the third en route to an 8-3 win, handing the Red Wings their eighth loss in a row.
Red Wings continue homestand this weekend
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings will be continuing their homestand tonight as they welcome the Notre Dame Hounds to Crescent Point Place. This game will be the second of four at home.
The Red Wings are coming into the game having lost their past seven games.
This will be the second visit of the season to Crescent Point Place for Notre Dame. The season series is tied at a game each.
Red Wings shut out at home
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings welcomed the Nipawin Hawks to Crescent Point Place Tuesday night, hoping to snap a six-game losing skid. The last time the Wings had entertained the Hawks, back on October 15th, the Wings had picked up a 4-2 win, so they were hoping to repeat the performance.
Broncos stymie Red Wings in Humboldt
Heading into Humboldt Saturday night, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were looking to break a five-game losing streak, while the Broncos were looking to extend their five-game winning streak. The two teams would go back and forth with plenty of opportunities all throughout the game, but in the end, it would be the Broncos who came out on top, skating to a 4-3 victory.
