Federal payments to hit Canadian wallets early next month
You might be in for a nice surprise early next month.
A pair of federal payments will be deposited into the bank accounts of thousands of Canadians on July 5.
That is due to both the GST/HST payments, and the federal grocery rebate expected to coincide with each other on the same day.
Here is what you need to know about each payment.
GST/HST credit:
The GST/HST credit is described as a tax-free payment that is provided to people and families with low or modest incomes four times a year to help offset the amount they pay in GST or HST.

Canada's Farm Show is set to welcome over 20 thousand visitors over the next three days.
Kirk Westgard, the vice president of agriculture for REAL District says this is the 45th edition of the show focusing in on the latest in agricultural technology.
Sturgeon County lifts fire restriction
Sturgeon County is no longer under a fire restriction.
The county announced that they will be lifting the fire restrictions in the county as well as the towns of Bon Accord, Legal, and Redwater effective today at 11 a.m.
"Sturgeon County thanks the public for its cooperation during the fire restriction and urges the public to continue using caution when conducting burning," said the county in a release.
Missing man in Strathcona County found dead
Strathcona County RCMP has located the body of a missing man.
On June 14, police reported that they were searching for 55-year-old Grant Wozny, who was last spoken to on June 8 and was believed to have been seen in Sherwood Park at the Flying J gas station a few days earlier.
Police reported on Tuesday (June 20) morning that they had found Wozny dead.
"Our thoughts go out to his family and friends," said the RCMP in a release.
At the moment, his death is not considered suspicious.
Elk Island Public Schools delays decision on Ardrossan French immersion program
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) has delayed its decision on how to proceed with the future of Ardrossan Junior/Senior High's French immersion program.
The school division initially intended to make a recommendation to the board this month but decided to delay the decision to the Fall after families voiced their concerns.
More layoffs announced in the pork industry
HyLife is working to help 87 employees deal with losing their jobs due to lay-offs, and approximately 50 of them are in Steinbach.
The company points to challenges in the industry as the reason for reducing their workforce by around 3.5 percent.
St. Albert RCMP find three missing kids
St. Albert RCMP has reported that three missing youths have been found.
10-year-old Cameron Bull, 11-year-old Emily Bull, and 13-year-old Mary Bull were last seen together in St. Albert on Sunday (June 18) just after noon.
Just a day later, the three were found safe.
No other details have been released, but police would like to thank the public for their assistance.
Strathcona Christian Academy 'surprised' to be valedictorian
Hannah Kalamoutsos has been named the valedictorian for the class of 2023 at Strathcona Christian Academy Secondary in Sherwood Park.
With the school being K-12, Kalamoutsos said she spent every year of her school career so far at Strathcona Christian.
"When I started high school, my parents asked if I wanted to move to a different school, but I said that I wanted to stay where I was."
Kalamoutsos said she found math and english especially interesting but said the one subject she lacked interest in was gym.
Ardrossan announces two valedictorians
Ardrossan Junior Senior High is a unique school in that they have two valedictorians for the class of 2023.
This is because the school has French immersion and wants to represent the student body's French and English sides.

Seth Ryning grew up on an acreage in Strathcona County, attending Ardrossan High since he was in Grade 7.
Suspects who robbed grad party still at large
Morinville RCMP is looking for two suspects after an armed robbery that occurred earlier this month.
On June 4 at 5:30 a.m. police received a report of a robbery in the Sandy Lake Wilderness Area. When officers arrived, the robbery victims told them a group of teens were camping to celebrate their graduation.
A white Kia Sportage came up to the group where a suspect stepped out of the vehicle and held the teenagers at gunpoint, demanding car keys and other items.
