An underwater noise detected by a Canadian military plane was giving added impetus to the desperate search Wednesday for five people missing in a submersible in a remote area of the Atlantic Ocean near the wreck of the Titanic.

The U.S. Coast Guard said an Aurora patrol aircraft picked up the sound, but officials added that it was unclear what it indicated. 

The development offered a faint glimmer of hope as time became critical for the crew of the Titan, with less than a day's worth of air supply estimated to remain on the 6.4-metre vessel.

A Quebec-based anti-gun unit says 45 people have been arrested and 440 guns have been seized in raids targeting manufacturers of 3D-printed or "ghost" guns across eight provinces.

The squad, called the L’Équipe intégrée de lutte au trafic d’armes, told reporters today in Montreal that more than 20 police forces were involved in Canada-wide raids that took place Tuesday.

Police carried out 64 raids and seized 440 guns, including 3D-printed handguns, long guns and silencers, as well as other guns and 3D printers.

A woman injured in last week's crash between a minibus and a transport truck in Manitoba has died in hospital, bringing the death toll to 16.

RCMP said the woman, who had been in hospital since the crash, died Tuesday.

Health officials said Wednesday that nine patients remained in hospital and four were in critical condition.

The bus was taking a group of seniors from Dauphin and the surrounding area on a trip to a casino Thursday, when it crashed with the semi near Carberry.

Alberta's government and the provincial Treasury Board have voted to extend the fuel tax pause through the remainder of the year. According to estimates by the province, the slashing of the 13 cents per litre fuel tax on both gasoline and diesel will enable residents of the province to save anywhere from $6 and $18 every time they fill up their vehicles.

A pair of federal payments will be deposited into the bank accounts of thousands of Canadians on July 5. 

That is due to both the GST/HST payments, and the federal grocery rebate expected to coincide with each other on the same day. 

Here is what you need to know about each payment. 

GST/HST credit:

The GST/HST credit is described as a tax-free payment that is provided to people and families with low or modest incomes four times a year to help offset the amount they pay in GST or HST. 

Canada's Farm Show is set to welcome over 20 thousand visitors over the next three days.

Kirk Westgard, the vice president of agriculture for REAL District says this is the 45th edition of the show focusing in on the latest in agricultural technology.

Sturgeon County is no longer under a fire restriction. 

The county announced that they will be lifting the fire restrictions in the county as well as the towns of Bon Accord, Legal, and Redwater effective today at 11 a.m. 

"Sturgeon County thanks the public for its cooperation during the fire restriction and urges the public to continue using caution when conducting burning," said the county in a release.
