Chad Posthumus in critical condition after brain surgery

Almost a week after suffering a brain aneurysm during a training session, the Winnipeg Sea Bears are updating fans on Chad Posthumus' condition. 

According to the team, the 33-year-old centre underwent a long and complex surgery that successfully repaired a large brain aneurysm. However, there were complications and he is now in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 

PBR Elite Cup set to return to Red Deer this February

For the fourth consecutive year, PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada’s elite Cup Series will return to Red Deer, launching the 2025 season for the nation’s premier series with the PBR Red Deer Classic, at the Peavey Mart Centrium at Westerner Park on February 1.

PBR Canada’s Cup Series regularly features Canada’s best riders alongside some of the organization’s top international athletes, squaring off against the rankest bucking bulls from across the nation.

The PBR Red Deer Classic will mark the 2025 season launch for the PBR Canada Cup Series.

Sports Update - Thursday, November 14th

The Southwest Cougars dropped a 4-3 decision to the Wheat Kings in Brandon Wednesday night. Reid Nichol scored the game winner 2:19 into overtime for the defending Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League champions. Slater Anderson, Cole Forbes and Connor Hoemsen with his 20th of the season did the goal scoring for the Cougars who led 3-2 until Easten Turko potted the tying goal for the Wheat Kings with 3:40 remaining in regulation. 

Sports Update - Thursday, November 14th

Steinbach Regional varsity boys will face the Glenlawn Lions and the SRSS varsity girls will meet the College Jeanne-Sauve Olympiens in the South Central Athletic Conference High School Volleyball AAAA finals Friday night at College Jeanne-Sauve in Winnipeg. Both Sabres teams defeated the Dakota Lancers in four sets Wednesday night in the semifinals at the SRSS. The varsity boys beat Dakota 17-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19. The varsity girls defeated the Lancers 25-20, 25-21, 25-27, 25-14.

RCMP Issue warning after surge of moose collisions on Saskatchewan Highways

SASKATCHEWAN – Drivers are being urged to use extra caution on Saskatchewan highways following a string of collisions involving moose reported to RCMP within a brief 30-minute span on Friday evening.

Between 6:20 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., five separate incidents were reported in various parts of the province, including areas near Prince Albert in north-central Saskatchewan, as well as in the Rose Valley, Hudson Bay, Melfort/Kinistino, and Southey regions.

Bronze medal in hand, Elecs set to rally at provincials

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Senior Boys’ Volleyball team made an impressive showing at regionals over the weekend in Moose Jaw, earning a spot in the upcoming provincials. The Elecs finished with a strong record of three wins and one loss.

“We lost our semi-final to Balgonie, but then rebounded and won the bronze medal,” said head coach Bryton Such.

Such noted that the match against Balgonie was one of the best the team has faced this season.
