They took him in the first round of the draft, 18th overall, and the Moose Jaw Warriors have signed Lanigan, Saskatchewan's Kash Elke to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Elke will play this season with the Tisdale Trojans in the U-18 Triple "A" league; but he said that he's looking forward to lacing up his skates for the Warriors in the future.

Klippers young guns take down Broncos 3-1

The Kindersley Jr. Klippers played their first home game of the pre-season on Tuesday night as they welcomed in the division rival Humboldt Broncos.

Icing a young lineup including local AAA players and 2025 draft picks, the Klippers scored each period to earn a 3-1-win against the Broncos ahead of a return trip to Humboldt on Monday for their second last game of the preseason.

Plett loved teammates and memories from Canada Summer Games

17-year-old Jadyn Plett from Mitchell was part of Team Manitoba that participated in the recent Canada Summer Games, and the star says she really enjoyed the experience.

"It was so fun," Plett says of representing Manitoba on the big stage. "It was unreal at first, I don't think I realized how big of a deal that it was to represent Manitoba as the first girls baseball team at the Canada Summer Games. It was a fun, and cool experience."

Broncos fall short against Klippers in preseason battle

The Humboldt Broncos dropped their second straight preseason game, losing 3-1 to the Kindersley Klippers on Tuesday night. 

All three of the Klippers goals came within the first three minutes of each period.

In the first, Pryce Thiessen scored 1:02 in the game.

Malaki Martin made it 2-0 with a goal 2:22 into the second period. 

Brady Simpson finished off the Kindersley scoring 2:49 into the third period. 

90 seconds later, the Broncos got their lone goal courtesy of Carson Croteau.

SEMHL announces Aces have been removed from the league for 2025/26 season

The South-Eastern Manitoba Hockey League announced Tuesday that an earlier decision from Hockey Manitoba has been reversed, meaning the Ste. Anne Aces are no longer part of the SEMHL, and will not play in the 2025-26 season.

Hockey dreams in motion: Alida Korte’s journey

It's definitely a bright future on the ice for Saskatoon’s Alida Korte. 

A familiar name in the area, Korte was in Humboldt last week as a guest coach for the Girls camp at the Humboldt Broncos Summer Hockey School. 

At 17, Korte has already established an impressive hockey profile, but there’s no doubt she’s plans on continuing to add to it.  

Encouraged by both her brother and father, Alida began playing hockey at the age of five. Korte played on boys’ teams until age 15, then switched to girls’ hockey in Saskatoon.
