Multiple agencies apprehend stolen truck Saturday night on QEII

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP located a stolen GMC 1 ton vehicle at the Bear Hills truck stop in Bear Hills, Alta.

After determining the vehicle was stolen, responding officers requested assistance from the Alberta Real Time Operations Centre (RTOC), RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) for a Tactical Vehicle Intervention Technique (TVIT), and deployed a Tire Deflation Device (TDD).

Central Alberta communities prepare for emergencies

Over three days, April 2nd to April 5th, The City of Red Deer has played host to a high-intensity emergency exercise to help 45 central Alberta municipalities prepare for and respond to real-world emergencies.

Representatives from Red Deer County, Stettler County, Lacombe County, Kneehill County, Town of Sylvan Lake, Town of Blackfalds, and City of Red Deer participated in the exercise which was facilitated by Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) and Central Region All Hazards Incident Management Team (CRAHIMT).

Rebels eliminate Tigers Friday night on the road

The Red Deer Rebels beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 on Friday night to eliminate the Tigers 4-1 in their best-of-seven series.

Red Deer hit the road Friday night and never looked back. They scored two goals in the first period to chase the Tigers goalie out of the net after just nine shots and seven saves.

Three more unanswered Rebels goals would have the game 5-0 after 2 and half periods. Medicine Hat would get the 5200 fans going with a couple third period goals but it wasn't enough to win the game and keep the series alive.
