A newly recruited family doctor is practising in Red Deer.

Dr. Piriye Caleb is working out of Ebenezer Medical and Walk-in Clinic, and also providing long-term care, and child and adolescent mental health support.

Individuals needing a family doctor can call 403-346-1533 or visit ebenezarclinic.ca to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.

The Blackfalds RCMP Detachment received 137 calls for service during the week of March 11 to March 17.  

The calls included four assaults, three breach of peace, one break and enter, two frauds, three mischiefs, five roadside suspensions, seven thefts, and 16 motor vehicle collisions.

The Red Deer RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing 48-year-old Jeffery James Wager.

He was last seen on March 14, in Red Deer.

There is concern for his well-being.

With warmer weather on the way, many parents will be eager to sign their kids up for spring activities.

The best way to do that is to attend the Spring Active Living Fair in Lacombe, which is taking place Wednesday, April 2 at the Lacombe Memorial Centre from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

One person was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries following a dog attack that occurred on Samson Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP responded to the incident on Thursday, March 20 at 11:29 a.m.

The dogs in question have yet to be positively identified.

Construction on the Sunbreaker Cove Boat Launch officially began this week.

The newly upgraded launch will remain in the existing location but will feature significant improvements, including:

• increased width 
• longer ramp length 
• new dock and gangway system

This upgrade will utilize prefabricated cable concrete panels for increased durability and reliability, along with a steeper grade to facilitate easier and safer boat launching, ultimately enhancing overall functionality and user experience.

With spring officially here, the forecast for Central Alberta is looking favourable for the foreseeable future.

Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada Danielle Desjardins says that temperatures are going to be above normal for the next week or so.

The normal for this time of year is a high of plus six and a low of minus seven.

"We are going to see temperatures into the double digits, maybe even the low teens for early next week," she said.

During the March 13 regular meeting, Lacombe County Council discussed a draft bylaw prohibiting residents from raising wild boars in the area and paving the Pelican Bay subdivision.
