Election won't be held in RM of Portage for Reeve and Councillors
The Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie will not be holding an election for its council on October 26th. Every councillor has been acclaimed, along with only one candidate stepping forward to replace Councillor Dale Wood in Ward 6.
Adam Carpenter is the new councillor for that ward.
Deputy Reeve Garth Asham says they do, however, have an election for a school trustee.
Ralph Groening says farewell in final Reeve on the Radio
CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner and R.M. of Morris Reeve Ralph Groening chatted one final time Thursday morning for Reeve on the Radio. The long-time councillor and reeve announced several weeks ago he would not be running in the upcoming municipal election set for October 26th.

Mayor Ewen wins by acclamation in Ritchot
The Mayor for Ritchot is back for another four year term. Chris Ewen has won by acclamation.
"Although we had a bit of an indication that it would be an acclamation, I'm still very, very excited and I'm very passionate about my municipality and I continue to look forward to serve them," notes Ewen. "I'm humbled by the faith that the municipality and residents have in me."
In reflecting on the fact that no one chose to challenge him in his bid for another term, Ewen admits that he does not enjoy winning by acclamation. He says he does not like apathy.
City thanks Reynard, McMillan, Van Walleghem for their service
Teary eyes filled Kenora’s council chambers on Monday as this group of Council held their last meeting together ahead of the 2022 municipal election.
The celebration began as councillors came together at the end of September 20’s Council meeting to honour Chris Van Walleghem and Rory McMillan, who have both decided to step away and retire from municipal politics after this term.
Mayor Earl Funk wins by acclamation
Earl Funk will be Mayor of Steinbach for another four years.
The nomination deadline for the upcoming municipal election was 4 P.M. on Tuesday, and with no other candidates stepping forward to challenge Funk, he is in by acclamation.
Funk says he is honoured.

Long-time HSD Trustee would like to extend her stay on the board
A veteran Trustee of the Hanover School Division would like to extend her stay on the board by another four years.
Lynn Barkman has given 22 years to improving education in Hanover. Having been a Trustee in Ward 2, for the Mitchell, Blumenort and Landmark area for the past number of years, Barkman says now that they've moved to Steinbach, she'd like to represent a new group of students, in Ward 3.

Courcelles seeks second term on De Salaberry Council
Louis Courcelles is running for another term on council for the RM of De Salaberry.
