Mark Carney has been officially sworn in as Canada's 24th prime minister in a ceremony at Rideau Hall, about an hour after Justin Trudeau formally resigned.
Carney told reporters on his way into the ceremony that his government is focused and ready to get to work.

Okotoks Got Talent fundraiser to continue all month
The first ever Okotoks Got Talent was held on Friday, March 7, but it's not over just yet.
Along with being a showcase for local talent, the event was a fundraiser for the United Way Okotoks Partnership.
So far, over $15,000 has been raised, but it's not too late to contribute.
The United Way committee has decided to leave the donation link open for the rest of the month, with a goal of $20,000.

The Herd now face the winner of the Sylvan Lake Wranglers - Red Deer Vipers series.

Canadian officials say meeting with U.S. commerce secretary was constructive
Canadian officials said a Thursday meeting with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was constructive and lowered temperatures amid the ongoing trade war launched by U.S. President Donald Trump last month — but they expected no immediate changes to punishing tariffs.
"This was a constructive discussion," said Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne in Washington. "We have our disagreements, but as long as you have dialogue you are making progress."

Mark Carney will be sworn in as prime minister this morning at Rideau Hall, where he will also reveal his new cabinet.
Carney won the Liberal leadership race last weekend with an overwhelming 86 per cent of the votes from Liberal members.
He officially takes over from Justin Trudeau as prime minister in today's ceremony.
His first cabinet is expected to be smaller than Trudeau's 37-member team, and some ministers are set to lose their positions.
Grant program to help protect over 20,000 acres in Alberta, including some in the Foothills area
The Alberta government is helping landowners in Alberta to protect their land.
They are doing so while still growing the economy and working with landowners in the province.
In 2024, there was a request for proposal issued, and $5 million in grant funding presented through the Land Trust Grant Program will be awarded to 19 projects across Alberta, which will help to protect almost 21,000 acres.
Those projects will help landowners and land trusts to protect the natural landscape in Alberta, all while not disrupting the livelihoods that Albertans rely upon.
Mom says Canadian woman in 'inhumane' U.S. detention, Global Affairs can't intervene
Global Affairs says it can't intervene on behalf of a Canadian being held in an Arizona immigration detention centre, where the woman's mother has described conditions as "inhumane and deeply concerning."
Alexis Eagles said her daughter, Vancouver businesswoman and former actress Jasmine Mooney, is being detained at the San Luis Regional Detention Center with about 30 people in the same cell.
FSD lauds province's school nutrition program, slated for additional funding
Alberta's School Nutrition Program could receive some extra funding, if Budget 2025 passes.
The federal Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development, Jenna Sudds, and Alberta's Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides have recently come to an agreement, with over $42 million in funding to be provided for programs that provide nutritious meals daily that follow the Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth.
This funding will supplement the existing School Nutrition Program.
Hundreds of community members unite in weeklong search missing dog
Hundreds of Okotokians recently banded together in a weeklong search for a missing dog.
The dog in question was Raven, a year-and-a-half old black lab mix who was taken in by Moe Dog Rescue Mission after having been found wandering in the cold in Saskatchewan.
She got loose while on an adoption trial in Okotoks on March 1.
According to co-owner of the dog rescue operation, Sam Burnett, it came as quite a surprise.

There will be a total lunar eclipse late tonight.
According to the Director of the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory and Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary, Dr. Phil Langill, the eclipse will start to become noticeable around midnight.
