Skaters unite, the High River skatepark redesign plans will be revealed on Friday

The second workshop for the redesign of High River's skatepark is coming up this Friday.

Everyone's invited to join employees of the Town and members of New Line Skateparks as they reveal two to three new redesigns for the skatepark across from Highwood High School.

The first workshop was focused on feedback from students at both Highwood High School and Notre Dame Collegiate.

The meeting is in the Cargill Field House at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex this Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Joly seeks more intelligence sharing with Europeans as Washington drifts from Ukraine

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Ottawa wants to deepen intelligence sharing with European partners, as longtime ally Washington diverges from Canada on issues like Ukraine.

"We're now living in a much more dangerous and complicated world," Joly told reporters Monday. "It's in full display."

Joly was speaking at a virtual news conference from London after talking to U.K. National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell.

Liberal leadership candidates pitch plans to confront Trump in English debate

The state of the Canadian economy and U.S. President Donald Trump's trade threats topped the agenda for the Liberal party's English language leadership debate, the second in as many days and the last of the campaign.

Presumed front-runner and former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney and former finance minister Chrystia Freeland clashed over the Liberal government's record of economic management.

“Our economy was weak before we got to the point of these threats from President Trump,” Carney said. "That's why we need big changes to how we're managing this economy."

A local rancher and business owner was recently awarded a kingly medal

A local rancher and business owner has recently been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The Canadian government had established the King Charles III Coronation Medal in honour of the King's recent Coronation and is awarded to those who have made significant contributions to Canada, their community, or fellow citizen.

Thane Hurlburt co-owns Hurlburt Rock Products and is the GM, Owner/Director of Hurlburt Ranch, and is a recent medal recipient.

Foothills School Division releases statement about CUPE 5040 strike

The Foothills School Division has reached out to parents and students on their website.

The current strike of support workers in the CUPE 5040 union has caused some disruptions in learning.

The letter states that close to one-third of their staff are now on strike.

A letter signed by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Trustees Board was shared on Monday, February 24 when the strike started.
