Cavalry FC clinch an appearance at the CPL Grand Final
In a match that electrified the Canadian Premier League, Cavalry FC stormed their way to the Grand Final.
Cavalry FC secured a 1-0 victory over Forge FC on Sunday (Oct. 27). Tobias Warschewski scored the lone goal during the 27th minute of action.
The Foothills-based soccer club has a bye week while awaiting their next opponent.
"We are so excited about this (championship) game. The pick-up here within Calgary, and even Canada, I would say has been huge," said Mason Trafford, a former captain for the Cavalry FC and now current commercial director for the team.
Top experts to speak at Manitoba Beef and Forage event
The Manitoba Beef and Forage Conference is set to take place Wednesday at the William Glesby Centre in Portage La Prairie, where a full range of Agri business booths will be on hand for producers across the prairies to explore.
The conference is a popular event to hear from local producers and industry experts across the region discussing the application of research on the farm. Forage and livestock specialist Shawn Cabak is one of the speakers and notes the venue will be full of agribusiness booths for producers to visit.

High River Town Council was jam-packed with residents as they wanted to hear about the petition for the Aquatic Centre expansion and the Town's response.
Nearly 100 people showed up with standing room only available to those who came shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 28).
The meeting about the "Concerned Citizens Petition to Stop the Aquatics Expansion Borrowing Bylaw and Budget Concerns" during the delegation period went for around an hour and a half.
An Okotoks high school is going to be immortalized on film
One of Okotoks' high schools is going to be the backdrop in a Netflix show.
Holy Trinity Academy (HTA) will be featured in the second season of My Life with the Walter Boys.
According to one of the Vice Principals at Holy Trinity Academy, Michael Annicchiarico, says the show was filming at HTA on Monday and Tuesday of this week as part of the show's last two episodes of the second season.

Plant-based milks facility did not follow listeria prevention protocol: CFIA
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says its investigation into an Ontario facility processing plant-based milk found it was not adhering to Health Canada’s policies on listeria prevention.
The facility is still shut down after a listeria outbreak last summer linked to the plant infected at least 20 people in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Alberta and led to three deaths.
Some light standard work will cause disruptions on a bridge in Okotoks
There will be some work being completed in Okotoks that will cause disruptions on the North Ridge Drive bridge.
Starting today (Oct. 30), Volker Stevin will be completing some light base work on the northbound lane of North Ridge Drive, right over the river.
Due to the work, the sidewalk on the north side of the bridge, as well as one of the lanes, will be closed.
Sanitary work in Okotoks will cause a road closure
Some sanitary service repair work is beginning today in Okotoks.
The work will be happening at 90 Suntree Lane and will require a minor road closure to complete the work.
While the work is being completed, only local traffic will be allowed, and residents near the work may experience some noise and disruptions.
Mustangs SV Girls volleyball punch their ticket to the post-season
The Highwood Mustangs SV Girls' volleyball team punched their ticket to the post-season with a 3-0 set victory over the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School Spartans (STS) on Wednesday (Oct. 23).
The first set was all Highwood, as they took it convincingly with a 25-9 set score over STS. In the second set, Highwood came out strong, putting up 9 points before STS was able to get their first point in the set. The final score in the second set was 25-14 in favour of the Mustangs.
Senior Modi cabinet minister linked to India-supported violence in Canada: officials
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison has confirmed a report that Canada is alleging an Indian cabinet minister and close adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered intelligence-gathering operations targeting Canadians.
The Washington Post first reported that Canadian officials alleged Indian Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah was behind a campaign of violence and intimidation targeting Sikh separatists in Canada.
Morrison told MPs at the national security committee Tuesday that he was the one who confirmed Shah's name to that newspaper.
