Mayor Thorn has some thoughts on the new municipal infrastructure grant

The Provincial government's new Local Growth and Sustainability Grant aims to help municipalities grow their infrastructure.

On October 22, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Ric McIver, announced that with this new grant, they are providing $20 million a year for three years to municipalities to help them update their infrastructure as needed.

Okotoks mayor, Tanya Thorn, says that while it's great the province is providing this funding, she feels it's not quite enough.

Halloween decorations taken from the Town of Diamond Valley

The Town of Diamond Valley is disappointed after finding out some of their festive Halloween decorations had been taken.

A scarecrow decked out in orange and a green alien are the decorations that have gone missing.

"We take pride in promoting a welcoming environment through our seasonal displays, and it would be wonderful to see these items returned to the community," said the Town of Diamond Valley in a post.

Municipal enforcement has been made aware of the missing decorations and the town asks you to be on the lookout for them.

Survey work will drone on in Okotoks this week

Some surveying work is going to be completed this week.

Crews will be surveying along 338 Avenue and 32 Street in Okotoks as part of their 338 Avenue/32 Street design project.

They will be completing drone surveying in the area, and will be staying in the ditch, which isn't expected to cause traffic disruptions.

The work will take place from October 29 to November 1, as long as the weather cooperates.

During that time, there will be signage, crews, and equipment in the area, so the Town is reminding everyone to use caution while in the area.
