Black artisan maker market and exhibits at Human Rights Museum

Throughout the month of February, the Human Rights Museum has a number of programs and exhibits ready for viewing to help educate the public on Black history.

February is Black History Month, and many organizations and institutes take the time to put together events and programs to recognize the past and make aware of current situations of racism and teach others to be inclusive.

Turning classical music on its head: the “gentlemen of hip hop” perform with the WSO

Hip hop dance meets classical music at the Centennial Concert Hall this weekend when the FLY Dance Company swoops in from Houston, Texas to join the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in their next show.  

“What we’re trying to do with this performance is bridge the gap,” says FLY Dance Company’s Executive Director Jorge Casco of the seemingly disparate genres.  

 

St. Andrew's Heritage Centre celebrating 4th annual Community Art Show

The 2023 Community Art Show at St. Andrew's offers children the chance to explore their creativity and aspiring experts to begin building their network.

No experience is needed to join in on the St. Andrew's Heritage Centre Community Art Show happening from February 11 until February 25. Artists both young and old, and every age in between, along with whatever level a person's artistic ability may be at, were able to submit their work. Submissions closed at the end of January.

2023 Windsock installations at The Forks ready for viewing

Eight creative artists and organizations have added even more beauty to the Nestaweya River Trail at The Forks, just another collection of public art to add to their ever-growing collection.

Each design was created from the artist's own inspiration, from celebrating the 25th year of programming at the Graffiti Art Program to honouring the captivating northern lights, immigration and more.

List of Grammy winners in classical and jazz categories

On Sunday, February 5, the 65th Grammy Awards were presented by the Recording Academy in recognition of "outstanding" achievements in the music industry.

History was made when Beyoncé won her 32nd award, giving her the most Grammys of all time. Nominated nine times, she won for best R&B song of the year, best dance/electronic album, best traditional R&B performance and best dance/electronic recording for Break My Soul
