Moose Jaw Special Olympics will hold a rib dinner fundraiser at the start of next month.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 1, at the Crushed Can Rec Room and Bar from 4 to 8 p.m.

"The funding goes to Moose Jaw Special Olympics and supports athletes with intellectual disabilities like myself," said Russell Hippert.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by emailing cec@mjspecialolympics.org or at the door.

As we went into week number 2 of Egg my Office along with our friends at McDonald's in Swift Current, the lucky winners this week was Cliff and the staff at Stevenson Accounting!

When we spoke to Cliff, he was pretty excited to be bringing some goodies to the staff at Stevenson Accounting. "We wanted to appreciate our staff, they're working hard this time of year. Gives them a little break. It's nice to win something for once!" said Cliff, while pouring coffee for a few staff members.

This week’s Adorable Adoptables are a fluffy double feature! Meet Mia and Lila, the chinchilla duo you didn’t know you needed in your life.

“They’re so cute. They are so fluffy,” says Robyn Roy, communications coordinator with the Cochrane & Area Humane Society. “Everybody touches them and they’re like, wow. So much hair, such small bodies.”

In a groundbreaking claim that has captured the attention of scientists and animal enthusiasts alike, the U.S.-based company Colossal Biosciences announced that it has successfully revived the extinct dire wolf through the science of de-extinction.  They are actually grey wolves with genetic edits intended to make them resemble the lost species. This announcement promises to return a species that vanished from Earth over 10,000 years ago to its rightful place in the ecosystem.

Got an auto enthusiast in your camp? Maybe a zealous amateur historian? 

Then it’s time to come out and rub shoulders with kindred collectors and knowledge keepers at Community Car Chat. The event is coming up this Thursday evening. 

The chat session runs in conjunction with the travelling exhibit from the Canadian Automotive Museum called Exit the Horse: The Early Years of Canadian Motoring, and its local version about Humboldt and the age of automobiles called The Open Road. 

Lisa McCullough has been interested in writing since she was a child. When she was in grade 6, a teacher complimented her on her writing ability and that was the encouragement she needed to continue with it. Poetry was where she started and then things just took off from there. Lisa worked with a couple local papers in Carlyle and Carnduff which kept her writing active and growing.

Saskatchewan author and former restauranteur dee Hobsbawn-Smith will be at Humboldt’s Reid Thompson Library on Thursday evening for a presentation as part of the Saskatchewan Library Association’s One Book One Province Initiative.  

The Siksika Nation Fair is coming to the area this summer.

"Please check out our official pow-wow poster, which highlights the weekend agenda and lineup, including the host drum, Ho-Chunk Station from Lydon Station, Wisconsin," the nation said in a social media post.

The event runs at the Siksika Nation Fair Grounds from June 27 to 29.
