Keeping It Cool: week two winners

In a burst of fun and appreciation, the crew at Prairie Diesel got a sweet surprise from 107.5 Bolt FM and Humboldt Sobeys! These hardworking folks were nominated and scored a win that came with an awesome array of “Keeping It Cool” treats.

From delicious ice cream to frosty beverages, these treats were a big thank you for the Prairie Diesel team’s dedication and hard work. 

The Spirit of Manitou Trail Tour offers an artistic local travel experience

The Spirit of Manitou Trail tour is on this weekend, featuring some of the province’s finest artists and artisans nestled within a comfortable driving area.  

Some of the artists have banded together at gallery locations while others greet travellers at their own studio locations. The trail encompasses the communities of Meacham, Viscount, Plunkett, Guernsey, Manitou Beach and Watrous and their rural areas. There are multiple pathways to take to enjoy the hospitality of each host and artist.  

Successful weekend for Hammerheads in Watrous

43 members of the Humboldt Hammerheads swim team competed in Watrous this past weekend. It was a successful weekend for the squad with several members achieving personal best records.

Sask 5 Giants surge protected against 15U AAA Dodgers comeback

A hard-fought surge at the end of the game just came short of a win for the East Central AAA 15U Dodgers last night in their tangle with the Sask 5 Giants at James Korte Field.  

The Giants came out swinging with a 6-1 lead at the top of the third. Then with 2 out in the bottom of the third, the Dodgers dug deep, starting with a single by Michael Moorman to drive in one run. A wild pitch added another run as did a Quinn Strueby double to bring in one more.  

Most Canadians think Trudeau will stay on to the next election: poll

A majority of Canadians think Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will stay on to lead his party in the next election even as his approval ratings are still extremely low, a new poll suggests.

Questions about Trudeau's future have swirled for more than a year as his Liberal party trails the Conservatives by a substantial margin. Those questions intensified in the last week after the Liberals lost a stronghold to the Conservatives in a byelection in Toronto on June 24.

Ex-Broncos Matthew Perkins invited to Vancouver Canucks development camp

A former member of the Humboldt Broncos is getting a look from a National Hockey League (NHL) team this week.  

Matthew Perkins received an invitation to participate in the Vancouver Canucks which began on Monday and will conclude on Thursday. 

Last season, Perkins spent his first season with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, the 20-year-old had 15 points (6G-9A) in 35 games.  

Wanted man found dead

A man wanted who escaped police custody in Dinsmore has been found dead. From the initial investigation of the Outlook RCMP, 58-year-old Michael Edstrom’s death appears not to be suspicious. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service continues to investigate. Edstrom had been wanted for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court
