A Saskatchewan farmer from Nokomis is the new Chairperson for the Cereals Canada Board of Directors.
Brett Halstead operates a mixed farm and serves as a director on the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission, where he was previously the board chair.
Cereals Canada releas Annual Report for 2023
Cereals Canada has released its 2023 Annual Report highlighting the organization's work around market access, market support and development and technical achievements.
CEO Dean Dias says the release of the report is an exciting time because the staff has done some incredible work in support of the cereals value chain.
He says Cereals Canada is responsible for work relating to wheat, barley, and oats in a number of areas like market access.
SJHL releases 2024-25 regular season schedule
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) has announced the full schedule for the 2024-25.
Opening night for the league will be Friday, September 20 with four games:
Weyburn vs Yorkton at 7:00 PM in Yorkton
Kindersley vs Battlefords at 7:30 PM in North Battleford
Nipawin vs Flin Flon at 7:30 PM in Flin Flon
Boldt Con - a comic and fantasy lovers dream
Always a great draw to the Summer Sizzler, the comic con, this year rebranded as Boldt Con, provided excitement for collectors, comic fans and cosplayers alike. Jubilee Hall at the Uniplex was abuzz with activity, just a few short steps away from the midway and the other Sizzler attractions.

It was a perfect Saturday morning for the Humboldt & District Chamber of Commerce's Summer Sizzler Parade. Residents lined up on Main Street, 11th Avenue and 16th Street to see floats, new and vintage farm equipment, vehicles, animals and more head down the streets before ending up at the Uniplex grounds for the Canada Day/Summer Sizzler activities.

PIC is looking to fill a couple of key vacancies
Protein Industries Canada is looking for someone to take over its top role.
Bill Greuel, who has been CEO of the organization since it was created in October of 2018, is leaving. He has accepted the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture with the Government of Saskatchewan. is last day with Protein Industries Canada will be July 31,2024.
The board will announce the appointment of an interim CEO in the coming weeks while the search for a permanent CEO is underway.
Manitou Beach Busking Festival the biggest and best attended ever
Another fantastic weekend of music and performances is in the books for the Manitou Beach Busking Festival. The resort village was bustling with visitors gypsying from performance location to location on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
