Broncos earn split in Flin Flon against Bombers

The Humboldt Broncos managed to walk away with two points after two games in the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon against the Bombers. 

On Friday, the Broncos earned a 4-3 victory which was followed by the Bombers taking Saturday’s contest 2-1.  

Goalie Ty Matonovich picked up his first win of the season on Friday night, making 44 saves.  

Wakaw & St. Brieux advance in high school football provincial playoffs

A pair of teams in the region have advanced to the Semifinals in the Provincial playoffs in high school football, while a few squads seasons came to an end on Saturday. 

The Wakaw Warriors advanced to the semifinals with a 66-53 win over Unity. Wakaw will host Southey in the semifinal on Saturday in the 2A category of six-man football.  

The Muenster Elks celebrate 50 years of active service

The Muenster Elks celebrated their 50th Anniversary as a chapter with an informal supper and program for members and significant others. The membership gathered on Saturday, October 26 at the Muenster Curling Club, their traditional headquarters of operation.  

After a gathering hour and a lovely meal, members and guests reminisced about major events, club-based hi-jinks, and the thousands of hours of service leading to thousands of dollars generated by the organization for local charities.

It’s the final day for voting in Saskatchewan. Polling stations open at 9:00 and close tonight at 8:00 pm.

Prairie Sky Trails hosts two upcoming self-defense seminars

The Prairie Sky Trail Association brings a pair of seminars designed to empower youth and women in terms of personal protection and self-defense. 

The first is a Bullyproof seminar being offered at the Prairie Sky Collective Athletic Center on Sunday November 17th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The event is billed as a life changing seminar teaching children how to defuse confrontations with words and never to initiate physical aggression.

Plan ahead for Hallowe’en safety. That advice from CAA Saskatchewan covers everything from costumes to Trick or Treating and drivers being aware there will be more kids on the road. A news release from the provincial CAA urges parents and caregivers to think about costumes that are bright or reflective at night, and suggests older kids who won’t be trick or treating with an adult, to go out as a group, because it’s safer and groups are more visible to drivers.
